Reading this board when Lavin was hired made me think maybe I was nuts for thinking he was a shit coach at UCLA. His teams were a joke. I didn't follow him at St Johns so I don't know how good or bad they were.

Great tv commentator, though. Hopefully espn still has a seat for him.

Mike brey coached the game of his life for 38 minutes, but thst inbounds play with 51 seconds left was atrocious. Throw something up towards the rim..if it hits the rim it resets and maybe you get a rebound for the last shot.

Louisville vs MSU is going to be amazing today. I have all 4 for of my final four teams left in Kentucky Wisconsin MSU and duke. Sucks I can't win my bracket but I csn come in 2nd in all 3. So let's go MSU!!!

SJU has offered Mullin the job and he's expected to accept.

    horrendous call

Duke knocks the ball out of bounds

ref right there calls it off Duke

other ref comes over and insists he overturns it, even though he probably didn't even see the play

congrats to Duke, back to the Final Four

I really thought a team from out west would knock them off. Utah and Gonzaga had the big men to match up against Okafor but they couldn't get it done.

Now Duke gets to face a 7 seed! Duke should beat Michigan State, the Spartans are pretty flawed.

Izzo, Kryzewski, and Calipari in the Final Four

Thank you Duke and Coach K for sparing the sport of College basketball the utter humiliation of Gonzaga making the Final Four. We are all very grateful.

I loved him when he played for the Johnnies. I am a big SJ fan, but I feel his hire is more about publicity and image. It would be better if they had a seasoned asst. coach or head coach from a mid-major with experience actually coaching in todays college atmosphere. I just feel he is too removed from the college game. Bringing back the old star can often burn out quickly. I hope I am wrong and he can take them a step further.

I think the staff he brings in will be important. Let's see who they can steal from other teams first.

They go for Mullin but not Mark Jackson, who HAS coaching experience? I get Mullin's THE big name of St. John's but still, he's literally jumping in the deep end of the pool.

How do you feel about this?

I was excited for Mark Jackson or Chris Mullin...I imagine Mullin would be a more impressive hire.

I'd say I'm doing pretty good in Junc's pool (1st and 3rd) ...unfortunately my money pool I have 1 team in the FF and that's Kentucky. I had them losing to Arizona. Needless to say it'll be a fun FF.

you should worry about losing in the rd of 32 as a 1 seed rather than a loss 10 years ago.

what is your point other than seeing my screen name which drives you crazy to post such asinine stuff?

That's duke basketball. Okafor constantly travels and sets moving screens w/ nothing but they called a travel on the big guy from Gonzaga and moving screens.

w/ that said duke was the better team and this was a well officiated game for a duke opponent(by duke standards). the game turned on that missed 1 footer from Wiltjer on the great pass from the big guy. After that it was all duke.

it's amazing how easy a path they have had- just like 2010 but at least they won't be playing a mid major for a Nat'l title this time.

a UK-duke title game is a nightmare for me but UK is the lesser of 2 evils so I'd rather see 40-0 than the rat smiling next Monday night.

Another narcissistic dodge. The point obviously being that you changed your tune after originally defending Lavin's performance this year for no other reason than to be your usual contrarian brat self. You see 'joe' and you see red, and to me your cred's as good as dead.
