Two straight crappy outings for de Grom. The Mets have no prayer unless he and Syndergaard are pretty much perfect for the rest of the season, so meaningful September baseball is looking less and less likely.

3.5 out with almost 10 division games coming up. Gotta do damage against the Phillies and Marlins to keep alive.

I randomly happened upon Darryl Strawberry today. It would be fitting of this season if the Mets find some consistency with their offense, and the wheels fall off the wagon with their pitching.

I Spoke to soon I guess huh? Lmao. I'm still not getting my hopes up though. This team is so hot and cold. We have seen stretches where we just go on homerun barrages and then stretches where we can't hit a tennis ball with a tennis racket.

If they sweep Philly and take 3/4 vs Miami or 2/3 (can't remember how many games that series is) then I'll be a believer

so Bruce starts against a lefty on Friday, looks silly (not uncommon), and now he sits today against a righty??????

And all of a sudden the Mets are back in it again, 2 1/2 out of the wild card. Pretty bizarre.

Carlos Gomez's line in 126 games with Houston:
    .221 .277 .342

So they released him and he's starting for Texas today.

Right, the play-in game from which the Royals and Giants both made it to the World Series in 2014.

Big time win last night. Hopefully they can keep the train rolling for a few games in a row. Cardinals came back and won last night which sucks though

Another nice win for the boys. Reyes, Cabrera, Granderson, Flores, Lugo, Robles with big games. Still 2 1/2 behind St. Louis, but now ahead of Miami and tied with Pittsburgh.

And this has to be Teufel's last year as third base coach. He is really awful, and cost them another run tonight.

Nice start by Bart, big hit by Johnson in the bottom of the 8th with two outs, Familia with a team record 44th save, Mets take third game from Marlins. Cardinals and Pirates currently losing, could be a very good night for the boys.

Walker has a herniated disc in his back, and Collins just announced in his press conference that he is probably going to have surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.

Now I guess it's Wilmer's time. Tough to lose Walker but if Bruce picks it up and Reyes/Cabrera continue to hit at the top of the order we should be able to compete.

Well, deGrom was only bad, not godawful, so I guess that's an improvement.
