Congrats to the U.S. Ladies. They were the better team and deserved to win. While I hate the shootout also, I think the result was well earned. Canadian men with a 1-0 nail biter over the Finns, and catch a break drawing Germany, who upset Sweden in O.T. Russia/Czech in other semi. 13
I recorded it so I could watch first thing in the morning. I get up, the wife has the news on and of course they are discussing the women's team win.
Germany plays a disciplined, structured game. Opportunistic, with good goaltending. Full marks for defeating Sweden and Canada. But I think the clock strikes midnight vs. the Russians. 13
I believe Germany beats the Russians, all they have to do is hit Iliya Kovalchuck like he used to get hit in the NHL and he will go into a shell. All they have left is Pavel Datsuk to deal with and it's hard to win a hockey game by yourself.
I dislike all of the olympic athletes from Russia but it would be pretty funny if after all that losing with Ovechkin they win it now
I'd love to see Germany pull off another upset and somehow come out with Gold. they deserve it at this point. However, you are vastly underestimating the Russian team. the KHL paused their season for the Olympics (even though the NHL did not), and the team is chock full of good professionals. Koshechkin is playing great in net also. I think Russia easily wins, although I'll be pulling for Germany.
I thought they were going to play the Rangers prospect from St. Petersburgh, but they went with a veteran KHL'er who I hadn't heard of. Hard to argue the results as he's playing great, although I was hoping to see the Rangers guy.
Canadians shake off the Germany game, and win the bronze over the Czechs. Looking forward to the gold medal game tonight! 13
No comments about the Miracle on Ice? I refer, of course, to the US men's team's gold medal in curling. To go from 2-4 in the preliminaries to win their last 3 matches to stave off elimination to winning the gold is quite the feat. Canada has had an excellent Olympics, but to get no medals in curling and only a silver and a bronze in hockey has to hurt.
Get these drunken Canadian sons of bitches out of the Olympics altogether!! . . https://www.npr.org/sections/thetor...-coach-apologize-after-drunken-joyride-arrest the torch NPR'S OLYMPICS COVERAGE Canadian Olympic Athlete And Coach Apologize After Drunken Joyride Arrest February 24, 20188:59 PM ET Dave Duncan of Canada, his wife and his trainer were detained by South Korean police after stealing and drunkenly driving off in an unoccupied, idling car in Pyeongchang on Saturday, according to Reuters. Local press reported that the car was a pink Hummer. When police pulled the vehicle over, they discovered technical skiing coach Willy Raine behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level of 0.16, CBC reported. The legal limit in South Korea is 0.05. He was charged with drunk driving. Raine, alpine skier Dave Duncan and his wife Maja were all charged with car theft. Duncan, from Ontario, finished in eighth place in ski cross on Wednesday, beating his 24th place finish in Sochi in 2014. The skier is decorated in the X-Games, where he won bronze in 2012 and silver in 2010. A detail from his Canadian Olympic team biography notes that after Duncan's first day on the slopes as a child, his mother brought him his own skiing gear; he began jumping on a couch in excitement, causing him to fall and break his arm. a press conference. "We are deeply disappointed in the behaviors of these individuals." The couple released a joint apology, noting: "We engaged in behavior that demonstrated poor judgement and was not up to the standards expected of us as Members of the Canadian Olympic Team or as Canadians." "I have let my teammates, friends and my family down. I would also like to apologize to the owner of the vehicle that was involved," reads a statement from Raine. .
Agreed, Jeff. Great rally by the USA curlers. And good point about the Canadians overall. Record medal haul, but it somehow feels hollow with the disappointments in Hockey and Curling. Those are our signature sports, and we came up short, although I don't think expectations were overly high in Mens Hockey, due to the absence of NHL players. 13
The gold medal game last night, while not the best quality of hockey, was certainly one of the most entertaining and riveting games I have watched in a long time. That third period was just crazy! 13
Didn't watch the hockey, but very disappointed to see that the team that never should have been there won the gold. Does anyone seriously think that none of these athletes have benefited from the rampant state-sponsored cheating that has been going on there for decades? Just another example of gutless behavior from the IOC to let them back in.
Well, I don't know about you fellas, but I'm going to be just fine not seeing Johnny Weir or that annoying kid in the Diet Coke commercials any longer. And I don't even hate fags.
