This has probably been covered but can someone explain why at 1 and 4 we cant watch 2 games. Why is it that fox cant show a game while CBS does. However last week they did, they showed the Titans game during the Jets game. The only thing I can think of is that we were away last week, so is it that when the home team is away the competing channel is allowed show a another game? I Just want to watch 2 games at 1 and 2 at 4 dammit!
It used to be if you were in a market with a team playing a home game, you only got one other game which was in the other time slot and on the opposite network, so you had just two games all day. Because NY is the #1 TV market and almost always has a home game, they changed that rule a few years ago to even allow the one extra game you're talking about. I got the DirecTV package a few years ago so I stopped paying attention to those rules and how they work.
I live in the SF bay area these days. We have two teams (Raiders and Niners) and they have not changed the rule out here. Imagine a Sunday where the only two day games you get is the Raiders and Niners. Its like football purgatory.
Wow, I feel bad for you. Its just odd how sometimes we get a second game at the same time on and sometimes not.
I agree. Most markets have a lot of out of market fans. Probably the most of any sport. Since the NFL only plays one game a week its easy to follow what everyone is doing and develop interest in out of market teams or games. This idea that the local teams should blackout all other games while they play is dumb. And from a fan standpont alone - it stinks. I dont want to see SF vs Seattle at the expense of the Steelers vs Cowboys. One game means something and one game is laughable.
You are correct. I am pretty sure that when either the Jets or Giants are playing a home game, the networks cannot compete and show another game. If they are playing on the road, you can have a competing game on the other network.
in weeks like this and we are playing a nfc team, therefore we end up on fox CBS will often show a second game.
Wow, I didn't realize that, I thought they changed it everywhere. I used to travel and was in all different markets and the rules seemed to be the same everywhere, but again most of this decade I've been in NJ with DirecTV so I'm kind of out of the loop. Me and one friend of mine used to be the only ones of our group who knew all these rules.
Yeah fox stinks. I dont know why but it just annoys me too. So im guessing that since the Giants are playing sunday night we should get 2 games on at 4:15? Wish I could watch the Bills/Pats at 1.
i live in CT and we have two CBS channels in my city. we get all the jets/pats games on cbs and the giants games on fox
In NY when either the Jets or Giants are home, the other network will not show a game opposite that, because of a TV Rule. If the Jets or Giants are on the road the network will show a game opposite that in the same time slot, like last week. If the road game is at 4, and say the other network doesn't have the doubleheader that week, nationally then you will only get one game. Example (NYJ @ TN) That game is at 1 pm as of now so Fox will show a 1 pm game in the NY Area.
Only 2 games? Still that sucks. Get Directv and get the ticket. You will love yourself for it, and me for suggesting it. I'll want my Xmas cookies early this year....
It is governed by NFL rules. You can't get more than 3 daytime games. That, I am sure, comes from their deal with DirectTV. If people could get 6 games a week..7 with the NFL network it would be hard for them to ever sell their Sunday Ticket package.
Wholy shit so do I! Sometimes I have to look away from the tv i get so mad. The worst is when hes twirling the baseball bat around like he is going to swing, BUT HE NEVER SWINGS THE BAT, JUST SWING IT!
