i am one of the coaches for my sons basketball team we have a game 9am saturday and 130pm SUNDAY.THATS RIGHT 130PM
so i think i am not going to attend sundays basketball game to stay home and watch football.also my wife is taking my oldest daughter to the city for rehearsal for the macy's thanksgiving parade.they have to be there by 10am and wont be getting home till after 4pm.so i can be home without the wife and oldest daughter and just have me my son 6 and my 2 little ones 3 and 2.

Am i a bad father and/or coach b/c im staying home for the jets vs titans game?

I'd make sure my kid felt bad for me missing the Jets game. Take a passive agressive approach, bring up how the economic situation has really hit the family hard, and how youve been stressed, and how everything youve ever done in your life youve done for this family. If your kid is not offering to pay for 2 way round trip tickets to Tenn w/sideline seats then you've failed as a father.

That or backslap him with your blackburrey.

if you are one of 2 or 3 coaches, and its not an important game, you can miss the basketball game.

out of curiosity, which parishes are playing? if it is CYO.

Stay home and watch the Jets move to 8-3 and be considered the best team in the AFC. :eek:hmy:

I'm often in a similar position with other committments and I figure that sometimes, you have to miss a game so that you can catch a really important game another time. For example, I missed the St. Louis game. When you miss one, it sucks, but there are better ones to miss or not miss.

This game is one of the more important ones but if there's a chance this will happen again during playoffs, you got to go now and save up the excuses. Also, no matter what, you need to set up the possibility of missing games in January just in case. Maybe you can begin telling people you don't feel too good.

I don?t have Kids, so I might not be the right guy to give you an advice. But I think you schould go to your son?s Game.

    1. Family>>>>>>>>>>Everything else, including Jets.
    2. You?re a bad Rolemodel if you?re not there as a Coach, to sit in front of the TV and drink beer.
    3. If the Jets loose, you?ll regret not going to your son?s game, but you won?t regret beeing there for your son.

    Sucks for you, thou.

The answer is yes, you are a bad father. BUT a great man. I would do the same exact thing as you, and teach my kids the priorities in life. You do what you gotta do to watch the Jets on Sundays

Dude I've been taking my less than 1 year old son to the bar to watch the games with his dad. I'm definitely not up for any father of the year awards but the only game he's watched that they lost was the Chargers game and we went to that one in person. We are 5-0 when my son has been at the bar with me to watch the Jets...... he'll be there this Sunday.

Last week I had my own basketball game at 8, right when the Jets started. We play in about an hour so I was showered and at the bar right after we went up 24-6 in the 2nd quarter. Your situation is more complicated because it's your kid's game, though. If he doesn't mind missing it, I'd skip the game and treat him to a pizza or something while you guys watch it. He might like it more too.

    Your a bad person.........

J/K Id stay home too. I got home yesterday and my girlfriend tells me that my cousin wants us to meet her new boyfriend and spend the day with them on Sunday, SUNDAY! Well I said no way, a fight ensued but in the end I won. She did make me feel bad for choosing football over my family but thats just the way it rolls.

My younger daughter was born the Friday before the San Diego game three years ago. The Sunday we brought her home it was during the game, she was actually in the house about five minutes when Wayne Chrebet hit his head and his career ended.

Is this for real? You'd seriously blow of your son's game when you're the coach?

I'm assuming many of you are joking in your responses.

Having taken the moral high ground on this, I must confess that my daughter's birthday party is on 11/30 2-5 ET and I'm half-plotting to sneak out an hour early to catch the Broncos game

Dont miss the kids game.I had a similiar situation 3 years ago.I had concert tickets I coached my sons Sr.League baseball team. The upcoming game was my sons turn to pitch. I opted out of the concert and he pitched a 1 hitter almost a no-hitter losing it in the bottom of the 7th.Kids grow up so fast the NYJETS will always be there..............

Other option bench the kid because he didnt clean his room or something else and neither of you go to the game................:eek:hmy:

You gotta go to the Hoops game. Tape the Jets game and watch it later.

I missed a home game this year because it was my anniversary and my kids had three things (games, parties, etc). I didn't want my wife to be driving back and forth with them on our anniversary and I'm at the Jets game....and it was my idea. I taped the game & imposed a media blackout on myself (plus warned people not to say anything about the game because I'm watching it later).

Family is more important. Sorry dude. I'm doing you a favor anyway because you would feel like a big jerk sitting there watching the game.

if you dvr it and get home by like 2:30, you will catch up pretty quick to live action by skipping the commercials
