I think he has one just finishing there and another starting as a freshman. Florham Park couldn't be closer. I think the Jets will examine all possibilities, but this guy is clearly near the top of their list. My take: I love the toughness he would bring...this is a team of pussies right now...but I question how much he really wants to coach and whether he would be coming here for the right reasons. They need to get this decision right.
If the NYJ want Cowher they are going to be fighting with the Cleveland Browns based on what I have been reading.
I am not as worried about this as I used to be because the same words were said just before we hired Magini. Even though Mangini got canned; the team is in waaaaaaaaay better shape than when Herm left it.
i dont post on here usually but i was just listening to Chris Mortensen and he is reporting Cowher met with Lerner (owner of browns) on Saturday in NYC and Cowher respectfully turned him down he doesnt want to coach the browns
they'll probably be hoping he takes a job on the west coast, seriously, who wants their dad around when they're at college!
It had been talked about by many in the past that the Browns really wanted Cowher, but he didn't want to coach a team in the same division as his old one.
Cowher said if he comes back, he will not coach for the Browns. He said his ties to the Rooney family and the Steelers make it impossible to coach for a rival. Good news for us.
BREAKING 10:40 AM: According to Tony Rizzo of WKNR, Bill Cowher turned down Randy Lerner's offer on Saturday. Rizzo also reported that Phil Savage was fired on Saturday, prior to the final game against the Steelers. http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2008/12/29/703946/romeo-relieved-of-duties-c
Very shocked to hear that Cowher isnt going to Cleveland. I guess he feels a strong sense of loyalty to the Rooneys in Pittsburgh. CBS analyst Bill Cowher told Browns owner Randy Lerner that he has no interest in Cleveland's head-coaching vacancy. Lerner revealed at Monday morning's press conference to announce Romeo Crennel's firing that he met with Cowher Saturday night. Cowher has been removed from Cleveland's list of candidates and say he will not be back in the league before 2010. That won't stop other teams from asking. Lerner will now focus on finding a general manager to replace Phil Savage. He's already requested permission to interview Patriots GM Scott Pioli. Dec. 29 - 10:59 am et Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
