The whole thing about naming his kids after Rodney Harrison and BF shows how weird and how stupid Mangini really is. It makes him look like a fan of the sport rather then someone who belongs in the sport. And its friggin' weird on so many other levels, why didn't his wife talk him out of it?
What is with the obsession towards naming the kid Brett? It's not like his full name is Brett Favre Jr. or something. That wouldn't even make sense.
I went back and checked why Mangini did it. Apparently he told Brett he'd name his kid after him if he came to the Jets. So it must have been a package deal. :breakdance:
But he names all his kids after people on the teams he works for. I remember one of the three is named after Harrison, I think another one is named after Bellicheck. So he always names kids after players.
I remember BF himself was pretty quiet on the whole naming thing himself. A couple here called it being an ingrate but I think he really was just thinking "WTF? I've only known this guy 2 months and he names his son after me?" and was too damn honest to lie about it, so he said nothing. That would freak me out if my boss of two months came in one day and said "hey I just named my son after you!" I'd start worrying he might be schizo or something & go postal next.
