Adam Schefter reported that the Denver Broncos have hired Josh McDaniels as their head coach. This makes us wonder what is going on with Spags, and our competition for Rex Ryan seems to be the St. Louis Rams.
Im not a fan at all of hiring Brian Schotty as our HC that would just be a low blow to our fans and our franchise. I say at this point we gotta get either Spag or Rex Ryan. Switching at this point to a 4-3 even though isn't as bad as people might think still might not be what we need at this stage. Ryan is a great leader who ran a great 3-4 with the Ravens. Yea we dont have the talent the Ravens do but im pretty shure Ryan had a say in drafting some of those guys outside of Ray ofcourse. So im confident he can handle the job.
Yeah man, ya know whats funny is I was watching the games this weekend because I wanted to see how the Titans(Schwartz), Ravens(Ryan), Cards(Grimm, and I know he is not a D coordinator but I would think he is gonna bring in play callers that he knows), and Giants(Spags). The Titans Schwartz apparently is not a blitzer. But the playcalling on defense that stood out to me over the weekend the most was in the Giants-Eagles game. Their defenses dont sit around and wait for things to happen, they bring the heat. But on the overall season and defensive mentality, I like the way Rex Ryan calls a defense. He just brings the heat. I couldn't stand watching Sutton rush three down lineman on passing downs, and the opposing QB having all day to throw.
I don't know if Woody considers it vacation, but he is with Mikey T in Baltimore interviewing Rex Ryan.
I would tell you where you could meet her in you're somewhat area, if you didn't support Brian Billick for head coach. LOL!
This isn't a knock on any of the DC candidates. Denver wanted a guy to coach up Cutler. They think McDaniels can do that. His work with Cassel proves that.
They can have McDaniels. He's going to be another failed Pats assistant. And firing Shanny was a mistake, all they needed to do was take GM powers away from him, guy just can't spot defensive talent.
there goes the idea that he will take cassel to his new team, maybe he know that hes really not that good?
I agree 100% Their problems were on defense, so firing Shanahan was a stupid move. The should have replaced him with someone who can improve that D. Another offensive coach is not a new philosophy.
I've seen people attempt to expand the Jets forum into the AFC east forum under the guise that anything happening in the East affects the Jets indirectly, but not that is being projected onto the AFC West too? very soon, there won't be a need for the NFL forum, all NFL news will somehow affect the Jets.
lets not forget all the injuries the broncos had this year. champ bailey for one missed 7 games. boss bailey missed 10 games. nate webster missed 3 games. dj williams missed 5 games and was severely hampered in 3 others. thats some pretty decent talent he didnt have on the field this year, their best db and best lb were missing for almost half the year. i am very confident that they tried to get shanahan to give up the gm role but he probably rebuffed which is what led to him getting canned. head coach and gm in the same person really doesnt work these days there is just too much to do and you need to have checks and balances.
I really don't get this hire. He seems even greener than Mangini was. Entire NFL career is only 8 years. However; I am glad that there is now one less team pursuing a new HC. Especially since Denver is widely considered to be the most desirable of all the openings.
