He'll be good depth but i'd still like to see us get a solid NT early in the draft. I'd like Ron Brace but he may go too high considering we have other important positions of need to draft in the first and Second round - WR specifically and DE to smaller degree.
I agree, that's exactly the problem. It's weird seeing so many defensive signings without one single offensive guy coming in, but there is no one out there right now in my mind that could really help us. We already have some nice depth players with potential on offense so our only big need for a starter is WR.
I'm pretty sure Billy Bajema will be a Jet - he'd become our blocking tight end. Another tight end will probably be drafted in the 6th or 7th round. The only offensive player worth signing would be Torry Holt, and the Jets have ZERO interest in him. There's no reason to spend money on players that won't do anything for us.
"He helps replace C.J. Mosley, who signed with Cleveland." I'm not opposed to Tannenbaum replacing what we're losing. It's one less position we have to seek in the draft and makes it easier for us to select BPA at the time we're on the board.
this is good depth, kris really burnt out at the end of the year do to his back problems, he should be a nice rotational player
Nobody that isn't speculative at this point. There's Garcia, which at this point may be the top of what's available, currently, but maybe save some cap space in case opportunities do present themselves. We don't need to sign every middle aged player that Rex has coached. Did we really need, Izzo or Green? Leonard? These guys, with the exception of Izzo, are all fairly middle of the pack, so I'm just not sure what the point is.
The point is that the team needs depth. Not every player on the team is going to be a star. These guys are solid depth guys that add something to the team. Izzo a special teams leader and will help with the departure of Bowens. Green will replace Mosely, with another DT/NT brought in through the draft making Pouha the odd man out. Leonard may not be a superstar but he is a talented DB with potential and is a great compliment next to Rhodes. With a guy like Green, you have nothing to lose, minimum contract, so if he doesn't perform, cut him during training camp, if he does perform, great we keep him.
Yeah, it's awfully hard to knock this signing. If he turns out to be a bum, he turns out to be a bum.
it'd still be nice to draft a backup NT in the middle rounds to get familiar with the system etc... and let him replace jenkins sometime in the future
mean joe green was his father and he's victor greens dad. i'm looking for the link. we signed him to light a fire under VG ass.
