Yeah, the shortening of sleeves through the years is a problem. Teams like the Steelers and Browns look ridiculous with their horizontal "sleeve" stripes. Also, compare the 2008 Colts "UCLA" stripe to the ones from 1998. The stripe has gotten much smaller. Same thing with the Jets. The Jets even modified their jersey a few years ago to account for the shrinking of the uniforms.
People talked about how weird it was to see Favre in a Jet uniform, its weirder for me to see crappy players in 49er uniforms. I'm glad they are changing, cuz watching those sucky teams wear those uniforms was giving me a headache.
at least they dont appear to be going the way of the falcons and broncos and the rest of the "updated" garbage uniforms many teams have now.
At least those uniforms are uniform. The old style uniforms with the horizontal sleeve stripes are outdated because most players don't wear sleeves. The Steelers are one example. The uniforms of Jeff Reed and Ben Roethlisberger are not like those worn by their teammates.
Whats the opinion of the board in terms of Jet uni's? Truthfully I'd love to go back to the 80's Sack Exchange uni's but it won't happen.
Again, outdated. Players wore true sleeves back then and the sleeve striping looked nice on those Jets jerseys. It would be lost on today's abbreviated sleeves. The excessive sleeve striping worn by the Super Bowl 15 Eagles was really cool, in my opinion, but they could never go back to that.
The 49ers are a team that will never venture from their uniforms, same as the Steelers. They are iconic uniforms of the NFL. Probly only a few teams in that category...49ers, Steelers, Colts. Giants have an argument with their whites.
I remember going to the Giants-Eagles playoff game this year, seeing a Carmichael jersey and thinking wow that looks cool as shit. Good point with the sleeves. As a uniform I still put the Jets home up against most teams.
There was a prototype helmet done quite a few years ago with the same coloring but a white "49ers" on the side. The bad thing about that was that it wasn't even in the same logo script that they use. I believe this was a serious option that was shot down by nearly every fan in the aby are about 10-12 years ago. I think they should stick to the basics they have a logo that has stood the test of time. They could try the logo with the "49" in the cicle instead of the "SF".
Nope. The classic SF logo MUST stay. The lame shit in your helmet is garbage. I remember the vote in the SF Chronicle about the alternate logos, I think the highest vote getter had less then 10%, which shows you how much the 49er nation loves it's logo. Too much history to dump it.
I like these. Since we got rid of the bad 80's logo, I have been happy, EXCEPT for the Titans throwback abuse
