Why? Why all the hatred for Brett? He got hurt and he struggled. If Mangini had any balls he would've pulled him when he knew he was hurt. Before the Denver game, there weren't 5 better Quarterbacks in the NFL. He was playing very well for a limited offense he had 3 weeks to learn. Its a shame we don't have Brett for 2009. We could still be contending like we were last year at 8-3.
Disagree. Favre knew he was hurt but said nothing so he wouldn't jeapordize the consecutive starts streak. If Mangini knew his throwing arm was pooched you don't think he would have made the move? It cost us the fuckin' season. Good riddance Favre, I'm happy to put our chips in with Sanchez.
I don't hate Favre at all, but it's pretty damn clear he's selfish at this point, and the way it looks now, he might have used us for a year to get back to destroy his old team. He was a great quarterback a while ago, and he used to be a ton of fun to root for. Then he sucked for a few years before tearing it up in 2007. That made me on board with the move. It didn't work out in the end for a number of reasons, Favre being a big one. It was just so disappointing down the stretch. I don't know how much it had to do with the injury, but it was like early in the year, he was struggling a little, then he was stringing together a few good games, and it looked like he was back to playing like the good Brett Favre after having shaken off the rust and developed a rapport with the receivers. That's why the last five games killed. Still, I can't hate him. We needed a quarterback, and there's no reason to think he didn't give 100% to the Jets. Granted, 100% when you only get to the team in the middle of training camp isn't nearly that good, and we saw that. I'll probably root against him in Minnesota because I don't want the Jets to look bad, but I'm glad he's gone, and I'm glad that we ended up handling the whole situation very well.
Listen, I was not too thrilled with the signing in the beginning, because I thought that Clemens deserved his shot. Yet, when I saw how the season was progressing I had to admitt I was dead wrong about the guy. That is until this shit started with his arm and him continuing to play in spite of not being effective at all. As much as he helped get us to the great start he also was just as responiable for us falling apart at the end. The right thing to do when he hurt his arm was to tell the coaching staff to play Clemens because he gave us the better shot to win. He could have rested a few games and then tried to give it a shot again. Yet he chose to stay under center and drive the team right out of the playoffs all in the name of ego..... He told the Jets he wanted to retire and all along he knew he would play for the Vikes this year, matter of fact it is my beleif that this was his plan all along from the moment he signed with the Jets last year. Say what you will, but Brett is and all will be first and foremost all about Brett above team and team mates and he is one selfish MF and personally I hope to see him layed on his ass early and often this year........

Would you take a year of Favre to get rid of Pennington? Because I think that was the original deal that Jets actually had in place. They let him retire and went out spending and drafting and when he 'un-retires' they let him go without a peep. This was the plan all along, dude. Woody wanted a one-year jersey selling machine while they bided for a young QB and cut ties with Chad.
I don't think it was that simple. I agree with your general premise, but if we make the playoffs last year, which we should have after the 8-3 start, I imagine Favre would still be our starting quarterback.
