Clemens' number of INTs is disturbing. Turnovers can't be tolerated and he could very well lose the battle on those numbers alone. What bothers me is, I'm not sure Sanchez is ready either, for a variety of other reasons. So Ryan is going to make a decision by the Giant's game? Okay, peachy keen, but I can see us putting an unprepared Sanchez on the field, only to get beat up real good and/or stink up the field and eventually be replaced by Clemens. It should be the other way around, which is why I've been rooting for Clemens to play real well this offseason. These INTs are pissing me off.
Very bad news considering he should be a game manager and not a gun slinger.... has Brett Favre taught him the bad aspects of his game?
Yeah it's disturbing. What I find funny is that no one has talked about Sanchez' last 2 practices where he was reportedly playing awful. Not that I'm happy about that, but you know Clemens would be getting roasted. Granted he should be outplaying the rookie. Someone needs to step up and start playing consistently well or our offense could be pretty bad.
In all fairness, Kellen is throwing at Kerry Rhodes and Darrelle Revis while Sanchez is throwing at Eric Smith and Dwight Lowery.
Not trying to beat a dead horse here....but is anybody REALLY surprised? This has been Clemens' M.O. since his first TC with the Jets. The excuses before were: 1) lack of oline 2) he had no chance against Brett Favre or Pennington 3) he's learning the system Well.....this year....there shouldn't be any excuses. He knows the system, his supposed talent and experience should be shining through by now. I'm not saying Clemens should be "stress free"...but he should be able to handle a rookie. I think the writing is on the wall with this guy, IMO.
It's all relative: Kellen is a 4 year NFL veteran and Sanchez is a guy with 16 collegiate starts on his resume throwing at second stringers. It's still a better performance. I think if they put Sanchez in as the starter, they need to keep him there all season, even if he sucks. There will be no point in yanking him. Take your lumps early.
You'd obviously want Clemens to be able to beat any defense but I'm sure seeing a Rex Ryan led defense that sees the offense every day is one of the toughest assignments any QB faces at training camp.
He's facing the same scheme, but not the same players. We've all openly wished we had better depth along the 2nd team defensive line and that's who Sanchez is lining up across.
Sanchez has also had time with the starters..... Look, I'm not trying to make excuses for Sanchez......i'm trying to say Clemens has run out of excuses.
I don't think Clemens will make it far into the regular season as far as starts go, but to simply make a judgment based on the interception count... you're basically falling into the trap set by the beat writers last season. There are so many factors to take into account for each situation that it makes no sense to blanket your judgment like that.
Clemens is slowly proving to me that he sucks. Somehow it doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy to be right though. Was kinda hoping this guy would prove a little worth to the team. Still early though, and a lot of work to be done over the next few weeks. Maybe he's dropping behind for a more impressive come from behind performance. :breakdance:
Naw I'm not just looking at INTs but if you look at the completions vs INTs vs points scored, then add the intangiable aspect of confidence, I think Sanchez is the clear winner here. There's just nothing saying that we'll be better off with Clemens at the helm. There's nothing saying we'll be worse off with Sanchez running it.
All I can say is he started slow last offseason, but I am running out of excuses for him, he better show something Friday.
