I really wonder if they can even afford to let him catch in the playoffs. The Yankees have totally exposed him.
Haha seriously, I turned on the game right after they took Lester out so I hadn't seen the play and had no idea what happened...I literally thought that he was dead. The way Eckersley was mourning his loss I thought that the ball had hit him in the cancer and knocked him into centerfield. I'm glad that Lester didn't get seriously hurt by the way, I've been pegged by a liner on the mound before and it's scary. A few inches and he could've had a career-threatening break.
No they haven't. He's been exposed for a couple years now, the Yankees just finally caught on apparently.
Man, has Pedroia ever struck out looking and NOT had something to say to the ump? Same for Youkilis for that matter. What babies.
CC throws a 1 hit shutout through 8 and Mo comes in to finish it off. 3-0 Final. Magic number for Yanks is 1.
yeah so imagine the people who buy the Tim McCarver CD McCarver was more suck dick than usual today, he found it more prevalent to talk about how Ichiro could be a hall of famer than the hall of famer wearing number 2 on the yankees
I just wish that Victor Martinez hadn't continued his hitting streak. We had him until the 9th inning. Urghh.
You remember maybe 10 years ago or so some young guy on the Sox took a liner from Ricky Ledee or someone in the face, blood everywhere? I don't think that poor bastard ever threw another pitch.
Bryce Florie. He came back for a couple games but was never any good. It was really bad, he broke just about every bone in his face. This is the first time I can remember that I'm not going to see a single inning of a Red Sox/Yankees series. Plans the last two nights and my own game tomorrow, plus a meaningless series. I'll see every pitch of the next one in October though. EDIT: Found it...
Yeah, it's really tough to stand confidently on the mound after getting drilled--you pretty much realize how any given liner could seriously hurt you. I was lucky, I took my shot in about the same place that Lester did (on the thigh right above my knee, where there was no damage but a nasty bruise.) CC Sabathia has just been masterful for the Yankees. There's a big difference between the team when it was run by Steinbrenner and now that it's run by Cashman: Steinbrenner spent a ton of money on the flavor of the week, but Cashman spends a ton of money smartly. Tex and Sabathia (and, really, Burnett even though he had a very rough stretch in the 2nd half) have solidified holes perfectly, and stepped into the clubhouse even better.
But they are the wildcard. That's why they will open in LA no matter what happens. (assuming the Yankees get their 1 more win of course)
Right, but HFA goes to the team with the best record. The Angels cannot win HFA with their loss last night. Only the Red Sox, the team with the second best record, can, and the only way they're doing that is to win out the rest of the way while the Yankees lose out the rest of the way.
Not sure what you are saying. All I said was the Yankees have clinched HFA over the Angels. They already have it over Boston if they win one more game.
