the frustrating thing with Keller is that he mixes up clutch catches with clutch drops...if he could just do one or the other Sanchez could easily make a decision to just ignore him completely or lean on him. As it is now, it's just a crapshoot every time he's targeted. If you're gonna suck, then suck HARD, that's all I ask

I think you hit the nail on the head. Those who defend Keller are quick to bring up how many big plays he makes, but the problem is his big play to big drop ratio is simply unacceptable.

IMO, tight end has one of the stepper learning curves out of most NFL positions. Steeper than wide receiver or quarterback.

Take a look at Gonzo and Dallas Clark in their first couple of years. It's a difficult position to grow accustomed to. Look at Vernon Davis, who had bust written all over him for three years, or that Chicago character, who's been giving me fantasy fits.

It's one thing when you're a wide out and, maybe one in ten routes you have to open yourself up over the middle. As a tight end, you earn your money working in traffic. It's not a cowardice thing or a concentration thing; it's just that going across the middle in college is a lot different than going across the middle in the NFL. Dodgin' balls in college; dodgin' wrenches in the pro game.

If there's a "Give Dustin Time" bandwagon, count me on it.

Come on, man. Keller has been disappointing, but he has also produced. Gholston hasn't been a factor of any game in the regular season.

Why this post after he probably had his two best games of the year. They guy is a baby just have way through his second year. He probably never was asked to block in college, runs routes a typical tight end does and also is lined wide like a reciever. I agree its frustrating drop some balls like he has and disappearing. I believe we probably fail to realize that when cotchery was banged up and Braylon was new to team he probably was guy defenses wanted to take away.
I take the last two weeks as positives. Yes he dropped the deep ball. Do you know how many teams in the league would like a 250lb guy who can get deep like that, he will make that play in the future.

I agree, hard to bash the guy after his best two games of the year, with both with Cotch healthy. Rookie QB, learning his way, this can only get better as these two get more time to play together.

Really, I can't believe the amount of player hate being displayed on this board lately. Keller, Rhodes, Scott...who is next? DeVito?

Dude, Devito is way too Italian. We need to cut him for a Swede or a German.

Has anyone looked at Tony Gonzalez numbers the first two years, Dustin Surpassed him year one and is going to come close to matching his year two numbers. This is a big 10 player we are talking about he did not play in an air attack in college. Mangini stunted his development last year by going away from him inexplicably and its taken a bit to develop chem with sanchez. To start knocking him off last two weeks is crazy though.

Yeah lets blame everything on Mangini..

Numbers don't have anything to do with anything. Obviously he's a talented player; he was drafted as a receiving TE and played outstanding most of last year so we know if he actually catches the ball and stays healthy he'll be a great player. The drops have been a problem all year, they're his fault and he needs to correct it.

Keller does not have alligator arms thats the last thing he has.

so many people bash Keller but give Sanchez a pass. well Keller looked better cause Favre threw to him more often and threw more catchable balls his way. plain and simple.

If Favre does anything amazingly at his age he still knows when to hit the TE and hits him where the ball needs to be.

Keller had a few key drops but alot of balls thrown to him arent even close sometimes.

give the kid some time, alot of TE's take some time to be consistent. hes already showing his flashes.
