I'm fairly sure Rex said in his press conference today that barring an unexpected turn Sanchez will be playing with a brace on the knee. This is from the Jets twitter.
wow...that article changed in like a span of 5 mins. When I clicked on it, it was titled "No Sanchez for Jets vs. Bucs, Ryan still optimistic"
I have a feeling that Sanchez will be out this week. Nothing more that just a hunch, but I just never trust what Rex says about injuries. It seems like whenever he says he's "optimistic" it turns out that the player is ruled out.

PELZMAN The Record STAFF WRITER Comment on this story 0 Comments Email this story Printer friendly version Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size FLORHAM PARK – Quarterback Mark Sanchez was held out of practice Monday, but coach Rex Ryan still said he is “optimistic” that the banged-up rookie will be able to start for the Jets (6-6) when they visit Tampa Bay (1-11) on Sunday. “I remain optimistic that he’ll be able to play,” Ryan said today on a conference call with reporters, taking the same viewpoint he did Friday when Sanchez first was diagnoses with a sprain of the posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee. Since then, Sanchez has had three long days of treatment here at the Jets’ complex over the weekend as he rehabbed and worked to strengthen the knee. Ryan would not commit to whether Sanchez will be able to practice Wednesday, when the Jets have their first full workout of the week in preparation for the Buccaneers. Backup Kellen Clemens was set to get the first-team snaps in today's late-afternoon practice. “We feel really good about how he’s progressing,” Ryan said. “He’s so much better” physically than he was a few days ago. After the game, Sanchez’s right knee was so stiff he could not bend it. Before he was injured, Sanchez had been staying after practice to do extra work, so it could be difficult for him to play Sunday if he has to miss a lot of practice time this week. When asked about that, Ryan refused to speculate. Sanchez, who had injury problems with his left knee at USC and thus already wore a brace on that joint, currently is wearing a brace to help stabilize his right knee. If he plays at Tampa, he likely would wear both braces, Ryan indicated. Sanchez injured his right knee diving for a first down at the end of a scramble in a 19-13 victory over Buffalo in Toronto on Thursday night. Clemens finished that game. Sanchez also hurt his left knee the previous week when he was tackled on a scramble against Carolina. Ryan said that if the Jets’ doctors believe that “Mark can’t protect himself the way he needs to” because of the instability of the right knee, he will not play against Tampa Bay.
