Yeah, I really don't get giving up Lee when getting Halladay. It just doesn't make sense. With both, you're as close to automatic in a short series as a team can hope to be. With one and not the other you lose to the Yankees in 6.

The Phils were reportedly having difficulty coming to terms with Lee on an extension.

looks like the Jays are going to flip Michael Taylor to the A's for infielder prospect Brett Wallace.

That's what I heard on ESPN.

Lee wasn't cool with only a 3-year extension, while Halladay was.

Why wouldn't you want to lock up Lee for more than 3 years? Stupid by the Phillies. Good. I can't stand Philly.

I think it was an issue of them not having the money pay to Halladay, Lee, Rollins, Hamels, Howard, Victorino and Utley as well as Polanco whom they also signed. I think if they had no budget they would have kept Lee but apparently they don't. Given the way Lee pitched for them down the stretch I would have rewarded him but there is a reason the Phils have won 3 straight NL East crowns and made the last two WS. Hint: It has alot to do with the fact that Omar Miniya is not their GM.

Lee is a great pitcher but he is no Doc Halladay. This is a great move for the Phils at least for the next 3 seasons. As usual, it sucks to be a Mets fan.

Because he would want a deal similar to Sabathia/Santana. He already said he wouldn't give a discount in terms of years or cash, and they got Halladay for cheap

All I'm saying is "make the room for a guy like Lee" when you just got Halladay, and took the World Series to 6 games against a juggernaut team.

Lee and Halladay in a short series = auto win.

    Milton bradley for Carlos silva
The Mariners are going to be legitimately good this year, two studs in that huge park, lot of speed, great Defense.

    Yeah. Almost as good as:

    Sabathia
    Burnett
    Wang
    Pettite
    Anybody

Don't forget Wang was an Ace before getting hurt. Add in the fact the Yanks want Sheets and goddamn!

Wang isn't on the team, pettite is good for a 4 but nothing special and Sheets hasn't pitched in over a year. The yankees have an unbelievable lineup, but their starting pitching is a bit shaky. I'd say the Red sox rotation is definitely better, I think CHicago's is better if Peavy is all the way back, the braves rotation should be up there, cardinals as well, and now with trades I'd say Arizona and seattle are as well, Zona having a good top 3, the mariners having the best 1/2 in baseball.

THe yankees have a great 1, a borderline great 2 a good 3, Joba is a good 4, but inconsistent. if everyone pitches to potential I think they are the #3 or #4 rotation behind Boston and Arizona. Though the mariners are to me the most interesting Felix hernandez is perhaps the best pitcher in the AL, and Lee is a cy young contender as well, after that though it gets shady, but that unbelievable Defense and a park that's tough to hit it out of could do wonders for their 3-5 guys.
