this shit right here ... is amazing http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/9203/versus-revis-all-wrs-in-elimination-game
"Im gettin sick and tired of hearing about Revis. The only reason why Ocho Cinco didnt destroy him was because cincy had 2 seconds to throw. No reciever could of got open with that kind of pressure. You seen how bad revis got beat on that last catch by chad, when cincy had a play with decent pass protection." Wow, that was the first comment I read. People are so obsessed about Jackson being 6'5, that is all they talk about. "Revis hasn't faced anyone close to 6'5, just throw it high and he can't do anything!" If it was that easy why are any receivers under 6'5 in the NFL?
For those of you who have insider, read the link in the middle of the page it basically says there are only two routes that give Revis a little...emphasis on a little problem. But to put how dominate revis is in perspective: I have not been a Jets fan for as long as many of my fellow TGG members but I cant remember a defender having as dominant a season as Revis is having this year
Was Revis covering Sims-Walker when he scored that TD? Edit: nope, it was Sheppard. That is my only problem with the article, I think.
No, the real stats of the WRs he was actually covering are: Andre Johnson - 4-35 Randy Moss - 3 rec, 21 yds - 1 int, 1 pd Marques Colston - 0 rec, 0 yds - 2 pd TO - 1 rec, 11 yds - 3 pd Mike Sims Walker - 0 rec, 0 yds - 1 pd Randy Moss - 4 rec, 29 yds, 1 td - 3 pd Steve Smith - 1 rec, 5 yds - 2 int, 3 pd, 1 td TO - 3 rec, 31 yds - 1 int, 5 pd Antonio Bryant - 2 rec, 22 yds - 1 int, 4 pd Roddy White - 2 rec, 16 yds - 3 pd Reggie Wayne - 3 rec, 33 yds - 1 pd Ocho Cinco - 0 rec, 0 yds Ocho Cinco - 2 rec, 28yds, 1 int
Let me say this: Randy Moss and Marques Colston are both 6'4. Terrell Owens is 6'3. Does the single extra inch make Vincent Jackson some uncoverable receiver for the man who shut them down? I think not!
Woodson had an unbelievable year just cus Revis is the best cover corner does not take away anything from Woodson.
You know it's funny. I was listening to Keyshawn on ESPN radio yesterday and he commented on how BS the idea is of a tall receiver just going up and stealing the ball from shorter DBs. He said it would always annoy him to hear commentators say that he just goes up and steals ball from DBs because those types of situations rarely happen on most routes. Basically insisted that Jackson's height is a limited advantage and people make too big of a deal out of height advantage in general. It's more about getting into better position and as we've seen all year Revis does as good of a job at getting position on a WR as anobody in the league.
The Jags game... Revis covered Torry Holt for the first half, when Sims-Walker was doing hid damage on the other side of the field. He took over Sims-Walker in the second, but it was too late by then. I'm not saying this was apparent at the time, but I think the Jets might have won that game had they recognized Sims-Walker as the dominant receiver while gameplanning. Oh well; no matter. The article should have left both Jax receivers off and included either Louis Murphy or Ted Ginn Jr- those guys had bigger gains against Revis than anyone this season. And I'll bet there's less film on those two receivers than anyone else Revis has faced this year. Interesting.
It's a fucking travesty that it wasn't a closer vote. How can the DPOTY play on a defense that gave up 51 points (yes I know people voted before that game). Still, where's the outrage!?!
He definitely wasn't. Revis was on the bottom of the screen - the throw wasn't even to his side of the field and it was Lito that missed on the tackle.
Nope, we had him on Holt until sims scored the TD, then we put revis on him... where he should've been in the first place.
No it doesn't but none of those wrs weigh a solid 230lbs like him T.O. is close but im pretty sure jackson weighs more than listed
Andre Johnson is 225. I guess the Raiders aren't the only ones obsessed with arguments about Height and Weight. Next is Vincent Jackson's 40 time. It must be the division.
