Wayne Chrebet was #10, Rch Kotite was interviewed in the piece, first time I've seen him speak since he left in 1996. Tony Romo was #9, Rod Smith the Denver WR was #8, then I fell asleep. I'm guessing Kurt Warner would have been #1, if not him I don't know who it would be. Nice long piece on Wayne though, some footage from Hofstra, his rookie camp, and Jets career, also the Keyshawn thing was well covered. Our buddies Beningo, Francessar and Carton were all interviewed in the piece as well. A good watch if you happen to catch it.
I saw that last night. Eisen's quote was awesome. "I hear 'Wayne Chrebet,' I think 'Hofstra' and then I think 'white'. Then I think 'not going to be drafted'." Wayne was one of my favorites growing up. I used to catch shit for wearing his jersey around ass-fuck Keyshawn fans.
Yeah, that was an awesome quote, Eisen is great. I have a green Keyshawn jersey and a white Chrebet (insert joke here), wish those two had gotten along better.
Keyshawn was a great receiver, just a shitty teammate and not nearly as classy as Chrebet. Despite him being a d-bag most of the time, I loved having that WR who you knew would catch anything you threw at him. I was sad to see him go, but getting those picks made it a hell of a lot easier.
favorite player of all time. classy guy, came to play. For some reason though, I alwas associate him with that fumble against bears in 02.
Chrebet's got to be in the top 10 all-time heart team. My favorite run of games ever with the Jets up until last year's playoff run was the first 7 in 2000. Vinny and Chrebet were just amazing at pulling games out of the fire in the second half in that run. Then the NFL woke up to the fact that you absolutely had to double-cover Wayne Chrebet, at which point he vanished for the season because even heart can only take you so far when you're 5'8 and a half and 4.65 speed. My favorite Chrebet moment wasn't in the Monday Night Miracle, it was when he got behind the Tampa Bay defense late (a great defense especially against the pass) and caught the half back option from Curtis for the win. They cut to the Tampa Bay sidelines almost immediately and you could see Keyshawn mouthing "I told you you had to cover him." Freaking great moment that let you know exactly how Keyshawn really felt about Chrebet.
That was a great moment. As much as I'm a Keyshawn fan and still have my #19, he talked a lot of shit in the week leading up to that game and for Chrebet to catch the game winner was just perfect. CBS had the cameras fixed on Key for his reaction which was also priceless. Key got his ring down there, but for Jet fans and Chrebet in particular, that was like you said a great all-time memory.
Yes. Chrebet got behind the safety that was working deep cover. That safety's name was... Damien Robinson.
