Not to mention that Revis has excellent technique, fluid hip movements, and postures/positions/jams receivers after the snap at the line very well. You can always work on these things, but..you either have them or you don't. This is what separates Revis from other corners when it comes to man coverage.

Kind of agree with you there. But I don't think getting a few tips will make him nearly as good as Revis. He can do a film study on him if he wanted to xerox him, but some players just have talent that other can not attain, regardless of how hard they practice.

if revis don't get off his ass and sign his contract, he will have a LOT of time on his hands. hell, he can coach the local highschool football team.

I feel pretty confident that Darrelle Revis has no idea why Darrelle Revis is so good.

The film study? Revis isn't the first cornerback in the NFL to study his ass off. I'm sure there are quite a few guys in the league who work harder than Revis and will never leave their team's practice squad.

I think Peter King did an interview with Barry Sanders that kind of addressed it. King's point was that the truly gifted athletes- Mike Jordan, Sanders, Jerry Rice- can't really explain what it is that they do differently. It's so effortless, so unconscious that they don't even realize what it is they're doing.

So a very good running back might think, "Well, on the sweep, I'm gonna try to isolate the outside defender. Then I'll put a head bob on him, make him think I'm going back inside. Then I juke outside, give him a stiff arm and try to tip toe the sideline..." etc.

A great running back might think, "I'm gonna get the ball and run to the endzone."

I could be wrong. Maybe Revis can write a simple thesis on why he's so effective, but I doubt it. I bet he just thinks "I watch all the film on a guy and then I cover that guy."

Yes I'm sure there are plenty of corners who study film more than Revis to be honest. It is just that Revis is gifted intellectually as well, or he is just lucky that he knows that WR's routes will run.

I've heard Revis in interviews say how he see's other WR's line up that he isnt covering...then looks at his, and can tell what HIS is doing from what is going around outside his island. He studies there behavior in the snap, how they take their approach to the LOS.
