Woody out for is an absolute nightmare against the STEELERS but using the Woody injury as an advantage. ... Activate Vlad and have him as an xtra lineman + xtra TE formations. In preseason Vlad was an absolute BEAST on running plays but on passing? uggghhh. Well as an Xtra lineman he will not be forced to block solo. How is this an advantage? -On Running plays it's obvious, let Vlad be Vlad. Other than Hood and Hampton, Pitt's 3-4 is relatively undersized vs our O-line which normally is Pitt's strength because of their 3-4 blitzing. This is easier said than done but Vlad and most our lineman are solid run blockers. -On Passing plays they will most likely be blizting even more w/ the injury so make sure the Xtra TE Chips 100% of the time and then releases. This will not only help Vlad/Hunter but give Nacho Libre the extra .05 seconds to have our guys get open. I can't see Holmes, Keller, Braylon being shut down 1-on-1. IOW Use the blitz against them. This injury + STEELERS blitzing forces us to have xtra blocking and gives us 1-on-1 pretty much all day. Also, if there were ever a day to have LT and the ShonnMower lined up as split backs.... If Shotty were to ever get a fukin clue, this would be when to get it. I'm Not saying to force the run, this thread is about our offensive personnel in passing & running due to Woody's injury.
I've said it the whole year. This team's identity is running the damn ball. I don't care if anyone thinks Sanchez is ready to take on more. He's in his 2nd year, you keep running it. The Steelers rarely let Big Ben pass more than 25 times in a game for his 1st three years. I wanted the same for Sanchez, especially with his limited experience. Schotty doesn't mix with what the offenses identity should be. I've said that countless times. And to give the OL help with chips is never often. Wayne Hunter should never have Wake 1 on 1. That was an obvious mismatch
u wna run on the steelers? u can throw the ball on the steelers...not really run it. i do not want to see LT rush the ball up the middle ONCE in this game.
We haven't been able to get a push in run blocking at all lately, I doubt putting a guy who hasn't been active out there is suddenly going to fix that. This hurts our run game, make no mistake about it.
Exactly. I don't care that Pittsburgh is one of the better run defenses. We are one of the better run offenses. And we need to start dictating to the defense how the game will be played.
Read the title, I said "Line up" for a reason. I am not saying go ground & pound, but we have to lineup as G&P and use it as an advantage. It's not just Vlad, I'm talking about the formation. Having Xtra TE's and Lineman should definitely help... The main point here is our formation could actually help us. @ the end of the post I specifically said they can't cover us 1v1..we all know Pitt's pass D is suspect
I don't know if your just being antagonistic or serious but the only way we can go downfield is w/ a Max Protect which Ironically is what we'd be doing if my OP is correct.
This should be a game where you try to throw a bit more due to how great the Steelers are against the run but knowing Schotty thats exactly what the Steelers will be expecting so we're going to run the ball 80% of the time and about 70% of those runs will be behind our LG.:breakdance:
Agree, but in order to pass you have to lineup and protect the QB. The only way to do that is w/ the xtra protection which is what I'm refering to by lining up w/Ground & Pound. Protect the QB and we can get this 1!
It's not Madden. If he's a TE the defense knows he's not a passing threat at all (he is a threat for illegal formations and false starts but I digress), and it just makes it that much easier to stop the Jets.
This teams identity is running the ball up the middle for two yards. We have to accept this isn't last years team. We have not run the ball well since the Minnesota game really. If this ship is going to get right it will need to be on the shoulders of Sanchez and the passing game. Until that happens teams will be stacking up against the run.
We didn't Max protect against Cameron Wake, an elite pass rusher in this league. If Schotty some how pulls this one out and its a great offensive game for us I'd be shocked. I expect another repeat of the last two performances.
our run playcalling is godawful, we run right up the middle for a gain of 1-2 on first and second down EVERY FUCKING TIME. so yeah, lets keep doing that against the #1 run d with our best run blocker out. you truly are thinking like schotty.
Umm, I'm not 12 yrs old so you can lose the stupid Madden reference mr.Genius Just the fact that you are focusing on him Lining up @ TE means you really didn't grasp the concept of my OP...but now I understand why.
Another one who thinks I am saying to just run the ball. Man some of you guys really have trouble reading or understanding just wtf is going on here.... Thats Kewl , i understand
