Right now being the #6 seed there is nothing I want more than to get to the #5 seed. After Pats inevitable win tonight they will have clinched the #1 seed giving them over 4 weeks to prepare for their playoff matchup against whomever makes it that far. And while I think we can beat the Pats, beating the Pats @ their house when they have that long to prepare is quite scary. Only two ways this could happen, one is if the Ravens go 2-0 and the Steelers lose 1 of their remaining 2 games (either vs Carolina or @ Cle) in which case we only have to win 1 of our remaining games then wed get the tie breaker with the Steelers and get the #5 seed. Or since the Ravens have the H2H tie breaker with us theyd have to lose 1 game to either @ Cle or home vs the Bengals (both bad teams, but tough divisional opponents) and wed be forced to win out (@ bears vs Bills) Personally id REALLY like the Ravens to end up as the #6 seed after what they did to the Pats in the playoff last year since that could make our road to the superbowl a helluva lot easier. But if we fuck up vs the Bears next week then our only (realistic) way to do it is if the Ravens take the divison.
Steelers so we can be the 6th seed....no clue why but this team plays so much more motivated away. Dont want a chance for a home game, as crazy as that may sound. Also the AFC West winner will probably be the 3rd seed and IND in the playoffs is so much more of a different animal in the postseason. Bring on KC/SD!
In theory, we want the #5 seed so it avoids running into NE in the second round. Of course, there's a good chance we run into Indy in the first round if we get the 5 seed.
3 seed= Chiefs 4 seed= Colts I think ill take the Chiefs. We have to beat the Patriots, its destiny. If we truly are meant to win it we will need to beat the Patriots.
Well if baltimore is the 6 seed in your scenario then yeah they likely win and go to NE, but otherwise, the Jets as the 5 seed would head to NE. Don't be afraid....you guys can win that game!
Jets as the #5 seed wouldnt head to NE until the AFC championship. Which means the Pats would have to play the #6 seed first. Basically when the Patriots play the #6 seed theyll have OVER 4 weeks to prepare for that matchup. Thats a REALLY fricken scary thought. IF the Pats make it to the afc championship theyll only have 1 week to prepare for that game, so obviously thats when you would want to play the patriots.
How? NE will be the top seed, so they get a bye. It'll be Ind/Jax or KC we face in the WC game. Much prefer KC.
Sure they can get the Pats... If the 3rd seed beats the 6th seed, no matter what we do we are heading to Foxboro.
Actually, no. If the Pats win vs the Pack, but lose vs. Buffalo and Miami, the Jets can beat the Pats on division record by winning the last two games vs. Chicago and Buffalo. At the very least, they play for something vs. Buffalo next week. And remember, it's not easy to play up there. And heck, who knows? The fish might give them a tough game by using a Wildcat 2.0 or something weird.
True but the 6th seed would be either the Steelers or Ravens. And the 3rd seed looks very likely to be the Chiefs atm. Ravens/Steelers @ Chiefs and their kick ass running game goes out the window. Which means Jets @ #2 seed. Eitherway I have complete confidence in either Steelers or Ravens making it through the wildcard weekend, even if it means they have to beat the Chargers (who I dont think are making the playoffs) or the Colts (who also dont look like theyre making the playoffs) All the Jags have to do is beat the Redskins and Texans (assuming the Colts go 2-0) and that means no Colts in the playoffs, and Chiefs have to beat Oakland and that means no Chargers in the playoffs. Basically the way things stands id put money on the #5 and #6 seed teams both winning in the afc wildcard weekend.
Hmm this is true very true, but I considered it such a long shot that it never slipped into my mind. Eitherway worst case scenario for the Pats theyd have 2 + weeks to prepare for the 6 seed, in which case the #5 is still the spot youd want.
Call me crazy, but we're going to have to face the Pats along the way. I have no doubt about that. The bigger question in my mind is, would you rather play at Arrowhead, Lucas Oil, Qualcomm or Jacksonville? I'd rather have the 6 seed if it means avoiding the first two. It would be pretty crazy to have BAL-PIT and NE-NYJ on the same weekend, but I guess NYJ-PIT and BAL-NE isn't bad either. BAL-NYJ and PIT-NE is also possible.
you can't be looking at who you are playing in round 2 of the playoffs, before you even clinch. We have to get in, and once we get in, we have to worry about who you would rather play in round 1. as it stands now, KC is the #3 seed (plays the #6) and Indy is the #4 seed (plays the # 5). So the real question is would you rather play the Chiefs, or Indy? KC is last years version of us, without the elite defense. Indy has Peyton Manning and he is playing the best he has all season. Who would you rather play? I would rather play KC because our run defense is our strong point, and Peyton raped us last year, I have no desire to repeat that performance....
Unless im mistaken the ONLY way the Chargers get in the playoffs is if the chiefs lose to the Raiders and I dont see that happening. And the Colts are also a long shot. Plus if the Ravens/Steelers (as the#5 seed) are playing the Pats they have a chance of winning. Which means wed have a chance of having the AFC championship @ our house.
