This was basically been what I've been saying in the officiating thread. I could care less about the blown calls like poor spot or holding on Cromartie because they even out but the late and illegal hits on Sanchez are pissing me off. Last week was terrible but this week was even worse. They are supposed to be protecting QB's from these types of hits and they're not. If het gets hit legally and cleanly I can deal with it but when it's late or in his back with a helmet that's bs.
Their offense was just terrible. 1st Drive: 25 yards, punt 2nd Drive: 70 Yards, FG (thanks to the missed tackle for 52 yards) 3rd Drive: 59 Yards, TD 4th Drive: 3 and out, FG 5th Drive: 3 and out 6th Drive: 3rd down Interception 7th Drive: 3 and out 8th Drive: 3 and out 9th Drive: 13 yards, turnover on 3rd down. Fumble 10th Drive: 54 yards, punt 11th Drive: 10 Yards, fumble 12th Drive: 24 yards, 1 FD, punt 13th Drive: 3 and out 14th Drive: 3 Kneel downs.
The holding calls on Cromartie have been terrible for the most part. Most corners do that much, but Cromartie just has a reputation now. Refs just need to be consistent with calls. I'd be fine if something was called on opposing teams the same way, but if all the doubtful penalties go against Jets, I sure as hell would be pissed. I usually don't call out refs, but Sunday was the worst officiating I have ever seen in my life that I can recall. The Packers game last year was close, but this one gets the edge for the refs continuously screwing Jets momentum every 10 minutes.
The holding call was because he touched the receiver's face mask. That being said, I agree with you 100%. Revis does the same shit, most of the time worse and he doesn't get any calls against him
I second that. Thought for sure Ngata would get fined for that one. Led with the helmet and launched himself at the QB. Dont think the one posted above was roughing. The defender has to follow through because he doesn't know where the ball is necessarily and he kind of just dragged him down.
^I guess thats how you see it. Thats why we have mixed answers here. I see it as a two-move action. First, he spun sanchez, then he pulled him down from the jersey and slammed him to the turf. It was pretty late, the pics don't show that but it was about 2 seconds after the pass that Suggs slammed him down. Question is, could Suggs have stopped himself? I think so and thats why you should see the penalty. If thats Brady, Ravens get penalized. Sure, Brady is an elite QB, but its a reality that such calls will very often go his (or Mannings) way than most other QBs.
