Very good analysis. The other thing to take from this is with as log-jammed as the AFC is, the margin for error going forward is very slim.
The Titans also have a stout oline....if Chris Johnson gets his shit together, they'll be tough down the stretch.
I despise the Giants and I have no worries about Buffalo. Who I root for will not change the outcome of the game, if it did we'd win the Super Bowl every year. I understand your point.
Ugh. For once I'd like to see the Jets as being the class of the AFC, and competing for home field advantage.
What cleansing? The score was worse than it appeared. We shut down Flacco, the reason why they won was because of poor play from the O line and Obviously the Sanchez pick 6. If we have Mangold back, those 2 TD fumbles dont happen and the games a LOT closer. 45-3 was a cleansing, that ravens game was just a case of everything that could go wrong, went wrong.
1. It's never too early to start thinking playoffs. These games count as much as weeks 16 and 17. 2. Root like hell for Oakland and Baltimore to win their divisions. With losses to both these teams already, the Jets can't win the tiebreaker no matter what happens for the rest of the season. With a game against the Chargers and 2 against Buffalo, the Jets can control the tiebreak with those two teams.
For that to happen the Jets would actually have to think on more than a one or two year timeline. The Jets have been going for broke the last three seasons and signing and trading for vets to fill holes. They've missed on a few high draft picks. That's a recipe for decline.
The game would be much more close next time around, if there is one. Ravens won based off of our turnovers. They scored on defense and all three of the scores had legit concerns of going either way. Their offense sucked just as bad as ours. I'd be happy for the Ravens than to face the Pats in Foxboro again.
The Jets have never beaten the Ravens since the franchise moved. We didn't just lose, we got bullied. If Mangold was back, the 2 fumbles don't happen? You do realize that the fumbles happened from the rush coming off the edge in both cases, right? Does Mangold play LT and LG in your world? EDIT: The Jets know how to beat the Patriots. Plus, our roster is built for it. We've beaten them in their yard already in the playoffs. I'd sooner take that chance, then put our offense up against that Balt. defense again.
Buffaloed? I'm not sure about Buffalo, either. As a Patriots fan, yah, they gave us our one loss, though we gave them four turnovers and were still in it. They seem to be for real, though I haven't figured out how they managed to make the sudden improvement. I'm waiting for them to play the Jets. After the last few years I've developed the typical New Englander's dislike of the Jets, but having a multi game gap between the Patriots and the #2 team is a good thing too...
Possibly, but if any contending team in NFL can afford to lose their QB, it would be Oakland. Their offense is predicated on the run. The run schemes are extremely complex whereas their route trees and pass protections are rather simple. If Boller is their QB for the rest of the year, then I think they are in trouble. I suspect David Garrard will be their by tomorrow morning. With KC at home and then a bye, he should be a capable replacement.
I think this is probably right. Garrard and Campbell are very similar QB's in terms of style of play. They're both risk-averse QB's who have very little ego about how things look on the field.
Totally agree, sanchez have never stood up against an aggressive high caliber defense, I think Baltimore is probably the team I least would like to play in post season. The ravens game was painful, nothing else, and it will be very much the same next time,, maybe not as bad, but a lot of 3 and outs.
The AFC is a mess this year. I would bet two 9-7 teams make the playoffs. 8-8 might even get a division in the west or south. We need to DESTROY the fins tonight. The team needs some confidence. If we can get to 5-3 at the halfway point, we have a chance.
Yep. When I looked at schedules last week, Tennessee scared me for that reason. Their schedule is pretty cake. We need them or Houston to knock the other one out of the playoffs. And for as flawed as all these other teams are, the Jets are equally flawed. But if we get hot and turn things around, we can possibly make another run again. Like Tommy said though, it would be great for once to be the team fighting for home field.
As long as Brady is in this league, our chance to getting the division will be slim to none. Unless he's in a body cast or the referees all of a sudden don't favor the Elite QB every chance they get.... No one else seems to be able to beat the Pats, so we need to be damn near perfect to win the AFCE. We better turn into a great road team, because thats what it's gonna take.
