Cannot afford to start off slow against these guys. We can do that against teams like Miami but when we start slow it just gets worse and worse against good teams. Start fast and keep it going. We can beat these guys not matter how tall they may be.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/396811/antonio-gates The Chargers are very hopeful that Gates will make it back Week 7, but even Gates isn't sure yet what to think. He is going to have to see how his foot holds up during the practice week, and even then he runs the risk of a setback during the game. Most Fantasy owners are still going to take that risk knowing what Gates can do when he is in the lineup. We just hope this injury becomes manageable or better yet it disappears. (Updated 10/17/2011). there ya go.
Their backs worry me. Mike Tolbert hasn't been very productive this year, but he's a grinder. If the NYJ offense struggles and the Chargers get a decent lead, he'll be used to wear down our defense. Ryan Mathews is a big play threat that's sneaky in the passing game. We've seen our defense get beat on outside runs. This will be an interesting game. The offense has to sustain drives though because San Diego has two capable backs that can run on our defense.
Cro needs to get ready as there are going to be a lot of balls coming his way. I think the rest of the NFL was reminded that Revis Island is not as pleasant as it looks. I noticed Cro was out for the last couple of defensive drives. Anybody know what that was about? Wonder if he was getting some early rest.
They can definitely get some mismatches with their RB's on our linebackers out of the backfield as receivers. I'm definitely more worried about that than them running the ball. In 5 games, their 2 RB's have over 40 catches.
What does that stat tell us? It tells us that Phil Rivs is checking down a lot...his protection must be shaky.
Also that his receivers, despite being 9 feet tall, are not helping him. And they've been injured. Gates has missed a lot of time, and Jackson and Floyd have both been dinged up. Factor in Revis, a motivated Cromartie, and Kyle Wilson.. and we can expect big doses of those RB's. One thing about Norv Turner coached teams also, is that they'll always do something stupid at a very inopportune time to help their opponent. Hopefully they're the ones making big mistakes instead of the Jets this week.
will be a tough challenge. very dangerous offense. but the chargers have tall receivers so they should win by default. why even bother? they're giraffes.
