It's the bye week and we need something to talk about. Besides Revis, who else will make the Pro Bowl?
McKnight really should make it as a KR. He's averaging 40 yds/return and no one else in the AFC is close.
Brick's run blocking has been pretty bad man. Greene is only averaging 2.7 yards a carry to his side. His pass blocking has been solid, but run blocking has not been worthy of a probowl.
Brick and Mangold will both make it on reputation alone. Mangold has proven his worth to the team by missing two games as well. Other than them, besides Revis, the only ones who have a chance are David Harris (big contracts gets players names out to the masses), maybe Cromartie, and Joe McKnight should definitely be the KR. I don't know if he will be able to get the votes necessary though.
Besides McKnight the only other KR in the AFC who has done anything is Jacoby Ford. McKnight has 4 kicks of 40+ yard returns. The closest in the NFL is 2. He also has the longest TD in the AFC and like it was said before he obliterates everyone with an average of 40 yards per return (min 10 returns). The next closest in the AFC is 29.8.
LT's are paid to be pass blockers, Brick has at least been very good at that. He has certainly been better than Long and some others. There have not been many Jets worthy of the Pro-Bowl, Mangold has had a tough season so far.
As funny as it may sound, Sanchez actually has an outside shot at making the pro bowl. Think about it: AFC WEST: Cassel/Rivers are playing poorly, worse than sanchez (campbell out indefinitely), Tebow won't outplay sanchez. AFC SOUTH: Schaub is the only legit pro bowl caliber QB in that division, Gabbert and Painter, nuff said, and Hasselbeck will burn out. AFC NORTH: Roethlisberger, Flacco (Sanchez is playing better than him), Dalton's success won't be consistent all season, and Sanchez is better than McCoy. AFC East: Brady, Fitz Sanchez and Moore The AFC is really low on QB play this season. Sanchez and Roethlisberger have comparable stats, same TD INT ratio, Big Ben has a slightly higher qb rating. Based on QB rating, the 3 AFC QBs in the pro bowl would be Brady, Schaub, and Ryan Fitzpatrick with Big Ben tied for 3rd with Fitz. After that its a group with Sanchez, Campbell (but he is injured) Hasselbeck, Dalton, Rivers etc. Mark has a real shot at making the pro bowl this year; can't believe I am saying that. I think he can statistically out perform Fitz, even Big Ben who isn't a big stats guy. Considering Brady is a given there are basically 2 spots open.
Not a chance in hell Sanchez makes it. No shot zero. If he makes it in, barring injury to other QB's, I won't post for a year.
1 - Sanchez will be ineligible with the Super Bowl the next week. 2 - Most people would rather stick a fork in their eye than admit Sanchez is good and vote for him. Rivers could have 3,500 yards, 20 TD, 40 interceptions and he would get voted in ahead of Sanchez.
Sanchez won't make it. Not a chance. Even if he has a good year, he won't make it. The only chance he has if half of the QBs don't want to play in the Pro Bowl and he makes it as a fill in.
