Did anyone hear Tannenbaum on 1050 tonight talk about McElroy?

He was talking about the Jets 2011 draft

Among other things, he spoke highly of Kerley and said they like Wilkerson's arm span and girth and expect him to play for the Jets for a long time

He then said McElroy is going to prove to be a very interesting pick.

Its very possible that Sanchez will be on a very short leash

    Short leash?!?

How about a few smacks across his ass with a rolled up newspaper?

Do we rub his nose in the ground where he fumbles too?

That made me laugh but come on Sanchez is not going anywhere. As long as we keep making the playoffs with Sanchez he will remain our QB.

a little corporal punishment would do mark some good.

i could see rex taking the belt off and giving nacho a good whipping. that might put his ass in check.

He probably means that in regards to trade value. I could see him being dealt in the draft.

It seems to me that "going to prove to be a very interesting pick" is about as meaningless a compliment as he could have paid him. He couldn't even say "he's a great teammate"?

Well, he could have said nothing about him...
and he certainly could not be expected to say "We're so worried about Sanchez that we may take a long look at McElroy next year",

but if you had to choose,
do you think his feelings are closer to meaningless or to
"we may look to see if he can start for us"

Nothing like a fresh 7th round pick coming off of IR with less than a full preseason under his belt to send a message to your starting QB

McElroy? His arm strength is worse than Pennington's.

Sanchez is our QB for the next decade + as long as he stays healthy, McElroy will hopefully be a quality backup.

    This.

I like the kid's moxie but he fell that far in the draft for a reason.

Watching the game at the bar a few weeks ago, (SD?) When Sanchez made some bonehead throws, guys started talking about McElroy, yada yada...... and my response was exactly what Petro just said.

Sanchez isn't going anywhere. On to of playoff wins lets not forget we still have a wining record as of now. Sanchez is young and will continue to grow. I know some on here want to dump sanchez but I firmly believe sanchez will grow significantly once assbag schottenheimer isn't talking in his ear anymore. I think its schotty thats really stunting his growth! When we get a decent OC and then sanchez doesn't progress, them iwill get on the dump sanchez wagon. I'm on the dump schotty wagon!

Its not about Sanchez not going anywhere. Its about Sanchez knowing at any moment he can lose his job. And that is what he needs to get into his head. This kid has been spoon fed like a little baby. Look at other QB's who weren't so lucky to have a good defense and be surrounded by great talent; they got the boot or were scolded right away.

When you have a franchise QB he shouldn't be afraid he'll lose his job if he makes mistakes.

Our D is so overrated it's ridiculous, the great Bears D's of the 80s only won one SB(only made one), same for Bal and TB of the 00s. Our Ds have been GOOD, not close to great and sanchez has helped us win a lot of games. We lost the other night for many reasons, #1 was b/c our Defense was terrible and we are a D first team. we lost in each of the last 2 title games b/c our D didn't show up.

Because Mark's arm strength is whats winning us games this year and the past 3 years. This year, he hasn't thrown down field yet.

That pick 6 last game, that ball had zip on it. Come on...

An uninjured 23 year old Chad Pennington on this team would be sick.

Imagine Chad passing to Holmes, Plax, Keller, Kerley and LT? Remeber how he could spread the ball around. Think how high his completion percentage could be with recievers that don't drop balls, a credible run threat and a good OL.

If McElroy is a young hungry Chad P, get him in there.

a healthy Cahd pre-shoulder surgery was one of the best QBs in the league, he was so smart. give him Mark's physical tools and that's a HOFer. Mark has a long way to go to get anywhere near Chad mentally but he has physical tools where he can make plays Chad couldn't. We have a GREAT QB situation for the coming years.
