Breaking news from Braylon's twitter, unconfirmed:

"I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense...."

Already announced in Jets forum; mods please merge/delete

Wow. He should come cheaply this offseason if we want him.

    From Rotoworld,

    49ers waived WR Braylon Edwards.

Edwards signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract in August to be the Niners' deep threat. It never came close to working out. Edwards was always a poor fit for the conservative Alex Smith and his knee issues lingered for much of the year. The former No. 3 overall pick was eventually passed on the depth chart by Kyle Williams. Edwards' Niners career ends with 15 catches for 181 yards and no touchdowns in nine games. He's now available to any team via the waiver process.

I honestly think we should get him back. Won't be too expensive, while the guy has his share of drops he's a playmaker, knows our plays and has chemistry with Sanchez

Pick him up off the waiver wire! Wow - we could get him back super cheap!

Jets won't get him. Some other team will snag him first.

If a team claims him off waivers, they have to honor his contract with the 49ers. So I doubt he'll get picked up.

Once he clears waivers, any team can sign him to a new deal.

I can't imagine any scenario where he won't be with the Jets next season, unless the front office doesn't want him. But they'd be crazy not to get him back, especially since he's got no leverage in terms of contract dollars.

That's for waivers, he is saying no one would be crazy enough to claim him to pay his contract

Ahh... ok. Doesn't he have a shitty contract there though?

Are people suggesting that the Jets pick him up for the one game in Miami? It's hard for me to believe that he could just step in and suddenly catch 50 yard passes, or that Schottenheimer would call any 50 yard passes anyway.

As far as next year goes, I don't care much one way or the other, but I'm surprised how many people seem to think he'd be such a great contributor, given how awful he's been this year.

I thought if he was healthy enough it might not be a bad idea, but it sounds like he's not healthy enough. Didn't he come right in his first game after being traded to the Jets and light it up against Miami? That was without even knowing the playbook.

Niners already paid the majority of his 1 year deal, so why the heck not?

If the docs look at him and think his knee is not going to be a lingering issue this is a NO BRAINER!
He knows this offense and this QB and would fill a desperate need once Plax is on his way.

I doubt any other team wants him. He doesnt have a good reputation, and his 49ers stint hurt him alot.

We know how good he can be, good thing the rest of the league doesnt.

Didn't realize he only got a one-year deal. That makes my earlier post pretty much irrelevant.

I was talking about picking him up for next season. This season is over barring a miracle
