What a pathetically average and boring season. Afc East Record 3-3 Nfc East Record 2-2 Afc West Record 2-2 2 Random Afc teams record 1-1 This was one of the most forgettable jets seasons in a while. Literally nothing memorable happened. I hope Rex doesn't really believe what he says when goes on and on about how talented this team is. This team has no play makers on offense. Aside from Mangold is there ANYONE on offense that you would be sad to see go? I understand Rex is a defensive guy but he has to get more involved in all aspects of the team.
I like what John Conner did this season, and Brick is better than what he showed this year. Fuck everybody else though.
We have a few guys, I like the veteran leadership that Moore and LT bring but their play has declined. I like Kerley and Brick. I still wanna see Sanchez with a new OC before I sour on him totally. I think Slausen is a serviceable player. We can't replace the entire O but if we overhauled the WR corps outside of Kerley and brought in a starting RT I would be quite happy. I also agree totally about your playmaker thought, the reason we lost to Oakland, Denver, Giants and Baltimore is they have playmakers on at least one side of the ball. Von Miller single handidly kept the Broncos in the game, DMAC killed us, I think you know where I'm going.
John Conner was an absolute waste of a draft pick. Having a Full Back who can't catch the ball is worthless.
Hell no. Did you watch the Giants Cowboys last night? How many times did the Giants hit their fullback with a swing pass for nice yardage and a first down. We have a full back who can't take a swing pass and a TE who can't block. That's why a stiff like Mulligan is getting reps in our O.
This is DEAD ON. I would add that since its likely that Tomlinson is gone before next season, that means the Jets have virtually no one who can catch the ball out of the backfield. I'm not saying this because Greene dropped a couple that Sanchez threw behind him yesterday either. The guy is useless in the passing game. Mcknight should be able to do these things but he can't seem to get it done either. Not to mention that being a 3rd down back means you have to block sometimes and thats not going to happen with him. Rex and Tanny continue to sacrifice depth at key positions ( Offensive LINE!!) every year by drafting running backs in the mid rounds and where has it gotten them? Its one of the weakest, one dimensional positions on the roster right now.
The Jets are committed to mediocrity. Anytime theres a glaring problem and you refuse to address it, you deserve to lose.
I would love Tomlinson to come back as a 3rd down back. He has sure hands out of the backfield and almost never fumbles. How many times have we seen McKnight cough it up this year already? He almost fumbled in Miami AGAIN but fell on his own fumble as he was being dragged down. Tomlinson is almost good at picking up the blitz. Id say hes worth more than the vet mim and hope hes back next year as a role player.
Im on board too and if anything to keep some Veteran leadership around... I've never seen a team of ours lash at each other like this
Nitpick: The random AFC teams are not really random. They are the teams from the two AFC divisions the Jets don't play that finished at the same level as the Jets. This year they played all of the AFC East and West and the second place finishers from the North and South (JAX and BAL). Next year they play the AFC East and South and the second place finishers from the North and West (PIT and SD)
A valid point, but they don't really throw to him EVER either. How hard is it to catch a swing pass? It's not. I'm sure he'd be able to catch a dump-off but Schitbrains just never calls it because Sanchez is always in freaking shotgun formation. Conner was a solid lead blocker and is only in his second year. Calling him a wasted pick is a bit unfair imo.
