This is not a big surprise, and I suppose it could possibly say something about their intentions with Manning. What I find more interesting is that 9 of the 11 coaches hired in the last 3 years have already been fired, and one (our own RR) is definitely on the hot seat. Who would have predicted that the coach of the Detroit Lions would have the best job security 3 years later?

Certainly sounds like they are doing everything in their power getting ready to let Manning go. Haha..it will tell a lot if the Jets interview him for some offensive coach position.

If you can't win 2 games without your starting QB, you deserve to go.

The only shocking thing about this is that it took this long.

Looks like Irsay is taking the Nuke and Pave approach.

Polarizing results with (14-2, Super Bowl app) and without (2-14, worst in NFL) Peyton Manning.

That highlights P Manning's worth to that franchise. Tony Dungy rode his coat tails to a Super Bowl.

Another year like this one and I'll be shocked if he isn't gone. He's far too much of a lightning rod to survive these kinds of seasons back-to-back, especially given the locker room discord. He is most definitely on the hot seat.

If he is not on the hot seat, then he's standing by it while they stoke the fire for him to be on the hot seat. Things cannot continue in the way they went this season... if so, he won't be in his job much longer.

As for the best thing to ever happen to us... I think you are missing some folks that would be in line ahead of him. I don't see any Lombardi's in Rex's trophy case.

52% of the 89,000 who voted in the Sportsnation poll about Caldwell say that Colts shouldn't have fired him.

    America is stupid.

Dungy is a good coach, Caldwell is not. Dungy built a championship caliber team in tampa out of nothing before going to the colts. Caldwell had nothing but failure in his past coaching career.

Irsay didn't want to be the bad guy, so he said he'd wait until he had a new GM and let him decide, which is code for "I'll let the new GM fire him"

Really? Even better than a Super Bowl Championship?

If the Jets go 6-10 next year, Rex is on the clock for 2013. Would be terrible if he got fired before the SB in '14 at MetLife.

If the Giants go to the SB this year and he goes 6-10 next year then the whole front office will be fired.
