It means you deserve a losing team. I'd rtaher be a WC team and make the title game than win a division and not make the title game. We had chances to make the SB each of the last 2 years- those years don't come around often and need to be cherished. Were those losses disappointing? absolutely but it was sure fun playing for the right to go to the SB, it beat this yar sitting at home.
I've moved on from it and I'm hoping it was just an isolated piece of shoddy journalism. He generally does a good job, and I don't want to ruin his career by e-booing him incessantly. That's not my style.
Why? I'm not pissed, I like the present management. I know this was a disappointing season, but I feel confident they will bounce back in 2012.
I am going to give it one more try. It's not a question of moving on. Don't you see that LT's story from yesterday effectively confirms what Mehta wrote? Your criticisms of his quoting unnamed sources to your mind had a surface veneer of plausibility. But if one assumes as I do that his sources did not wish to be quoted (otherwise they would have been), he had a choice. Print the story quoting unnamed sources, or don't print the story. He printed the story because he thought it was newsworthy. It was, and has in effect proven to be true. It's not like Mehta had people come up to him, wanted to be quoted on the record, and he instead chose not to name them. I would move on, too, in light of what LT said.
Hey Junc, I'm usually a fan of most of your posts and get a laugh out of your "grumpy old man" schtick but...Lighten up. If you go back and read your respective comments he's more or less saying the same thing you are. I think you might have misread his comments and as a result you're coming off as kinda dickish. /just sayin'
i'm not spending $275/game to boycott it... what statement r we trying to make? oh two afccg appearance and a non-losing season is unreasonable for jets fans? i have gone thru worse...i'll pass
Why can't you let this go? I dropped it in the Manish thread since you had taken on a distinctly douchey tone and I didn't want to escalate it. Now, here we are in a completely different thread and you want to continue the argument in your own, special douchey way? I try to deflect it once and you say my prior assertions have a "veneer of plausibility" in my own mind? I never doubted that he had unnamed sources and never questioned the veracity of the story. EVERYONE was/is questioning Sanchez's abilities after he sucked miserably to end the season. My problem was with Manish's methods. He canvassed the locker room asking players, staff, and God knows who else to anonymously vote on their faith in Sanchez as the QB. Then he "reported" his "findings". That isn't digging for a story and it's not news reporting like convincing LT to go on the record. What Manish did in "researching" his story was akin to electing a prom queen and I viewed it as typical shit-stirring NYC tabloid B.S.. That is my opinion. I believe it. Now please, stop being such a self-righteous prick and let it go.
You want to have the last word, but we'll see how long you last. You think I am a prick because I disagree with you. ho hum. I already got over it. You misrepresent your past position. You said he should not have printed the story, that it was not newsworthy and had no information. You also said his reporting methods were invalid. Here's one of your quotes: This "reporting" gives us nothing except an opportunity to start a stupid thread where we can debate whether Sanchez sucks some more. Perhaps he could conduct a similar "study" and report his "findings" on Rex, or Tanny, or Plax, or Mangold, or Scott, or Cro? Nice work. Thanks Manish/Cimini for all you do to tear apart this team. I think it should be obvious by now from what LT said that Mehta was merely reporting what happened, and it is ridiculous to assert that Mehta was tearing apart the team. It was already torn.
since they are all going to be there, why not show up in cortland during camp and making a lot of noise there? certainly much less expensive than during regular season.
Agreed! This is a winning franchise. Maybe they haven't won the big one..but since 98 this team has been a consistent playoff contender. All this short sighted, over-reacting, ignorant lack of intelligence crap...is a disgrace to the passionate, loyal long time Jets fans.
The problem with fans saying they wont attend matches wont help in any way. I live near Manchester in the u.k and when the glazers bought Manchester united and had all that debt thousands and thousands of fans canceled their season tickets and stopped their TV subscription but the problem with having such a huge fan base is there will always be another fan who will take your ticket or buy a jersey. Could work in a small marketed city but not NY!!
On second thought this might be a good idea. If you want to join this boycott just email me at ImGonnaSellYourTicketsToJetFansAndMakeSomeMoneyToo@gmail and I will provide my address so you can send me your tickets. I will make sure they are in a safe place where no one is tempted to use them.
