Apparently he played this season with a mangled ARM, torn rotator cuff, torn biceps.

    ETA:
He said the recovery time is five to six months, so he will be limited through organized team activities this spring. But he expects to be 100 percent for training camp..

Tough, but if it's a true 5-6 months he should be ready to go by opening day.

With the lack of quality depth on the OL im concerned. The OL needs to practice together in camp and play together in preseason to be effective when the season starts.

Yes he should be healthy for opening day....but what about the lack of strength in the arm? That my friend takes time to re-build and re-hab. He wont be full strength next year at all. This is bad news indeed

Perhaps, but he will clearly be in better shape this upcoming year than he just was.

I would assume the change from a zone blocking to a drive blocking scheme will require the arm to be more "usuable" than it did last year. In other news Rob Turner still dosent give a fuck!

Jets LG Matt Slauson's January shoulder surgery repaired tears to his labrum, biceps, and rotator cuff.
It was an extensive surgery with 5-6 months of rehab. He's questionable for the start of training camp. The Jets are counting on Slauson to return as a starter, but he'll likely miss all offseason camps in Tony Sparano's new offense.

This would answer any questions regarding his inconsistent play this year. Hopefully nothing with the hips/knees/legs.

What I think this means is that we have to resign Turner.

I am not a big Slauson fan, but given the lack of depth, this is not good news.

lol and we all were tearing him apart for getting pushed around a bit...

  14. With the change in offensive scheme, needs on both sides of the ball & now this...Tanny is going to need one helluva off season to make this team a viable playoff contender heading into next season.

I don't think we're headed toward Kotite territory & with Rex's D winning is always possible, but this is looking like a 2 year project at this point.

Given his lack of experience in a man blocking scheme, his lacking ideal size to play in a man blocking scheme, and now this ... I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up on a different team in 2012.

He had the surgery in January and if it does take the max 6 months he will still be ready to go. Hes a smart guy and Sporanos system is simple so Im sure he will pick it up fine. The only issue will be the strength of that arm which I can't imagine will be much worse than what it was at this year seeing as how it was described as mangled.

Hoping for him to make a full recovery and get better and stronger as the year goes on.

  18. Good point about the surgery likely being done in January. If that's the case he could be good to go by June OTA's.

He really needs to be in place at LG. Jets already are banking on Ducasse beating out Hunter at RT, they don't need to be gambling & hoping for the best on the other side of the line as well.

He will be. He was less than full strength this year.
