I disagree. I have followed this sight for a while and finally decided to add my voice to the chorus of opinions. I enjoy the articles by Cimini. Although I don't often agree with him I am benefited by an opinion that is on the opposite spectrum from many of the rose-colored ones I read from fans of the NY Jets instead of fans of the NY Jets who also understand football. Besides only a coward is afraid of different opinions from their own and only a child would simply answer that different opinion with mere invective.
An SOJF is just a Jet's fan who has watched more games than the guys with the green glasses on. As you get older you realize that eternal optimism is for suckers. What happens on the field in front of you is what matters.
We finally agree. It is a huge mistake, Sanchez should be gone, and Cavanaugh should be coaching a new Jet QB.
That's why I can't get mad at all of you SOJFs. You're obviously a really smart guy who's been watching longer than I've been alive. You've witnessed just about every conceivable fuck-up from this team, so I can't question why you're more pessimistic than not. Let me ask - around what I age do I start to transition from blind optimist to SOJF?
Thought this quote from ESPN applies, only that TGGers will lol: "New York wants to ground-and-pound its way to victories. But the NFL is a passing league, and winning by running the ball 40 times is becoming increasingly more difficult. The Jets at some point will have to air it out if they want to score enough to win consistently."
Hopefully never because the Jets somehow win a Super Bowl for us soon. My transition point was probably along about the time the Jet's teams of the 80's fell apart under the combination of injuries to Ken O'Brien, Joe Klecko, Freeman McNeil and Al Toon. Say 1987 to 1991 or so. It became clear at that point that the building effort in the 80's had fallen apart and the FO at the time had no coherent plan at all. We got a series of so-so to bad teams as the lead-in to Rich Kotite who locked in my view of the Jets as a bungling franchise just staggering along from year to year without a plan.
You ain't seen nothing yet. Actually, this IS Jets heyday - compared to what has been going on before that. The absolute worst you've seen is probably something in form of Rich Kotite, or if younger, MAYBE Bruce Coslet. This franchise's sucktitude reaches much farther beyond.
I would say, because Sparano's offense is so more straightforward, that they had time to do so. Be Curious to see how Bradford looks this year...
Sal PAl was VERY complimentary about Sanchez, saying he looks great in camp so far...hearing nothing but good things bout "MY QUARTERBACK"
I apologize if what I said was unclear or too difficult for you to understand. No where in my statement was claim that the Jets suck. I think quite the opposite. It IS the SOJF that through his overly optimistic glasses cries the sky is falling when a bit of realism hits them on the head. Why can't we be SMART fans? At least smart enough to not be chicken little. I hope that was clearer and easier for you to understand.
The big key, IMO, is pocket presence. It's a skill that most young QBs - especially ones with little college experience - don't harness until they're more comfortable in the league, i.e. they catch up with the speed of the game and process everything quicker (in other words, the game slows down for them). I think this should be expected of Sanchez in his 4th Season. And if it happens, then we should see him take the next step to becoming a very good QB. He could even reach the point where he begins to make his WRs - despite their lack of talent and experience - better. Other than the OL, I think much of Sanchez's success will depend on the cultivation and progress of his pocket presence.
was odd for drew brees, philip rivers, chad pennington and brett favre too life is full of weird coincidences
Bipolar behavior is what happens when you're randomly up or down depending on certain chemical imbalances in the brain. I'm up when the Jets are good and down when they're bad,
