There seem to be a lot of decent kickers on NFL rosters this year who may be looking for a job after final cuts down to 53, such as:

    Ravens
    Cundiff/Tucker

    Saints
    Hartley/Kasay

    Chargers
    Novak/Kaeding

    Raiders
    Carmona/Janikowski

    Texans
    Graham/Bullock

    Rams
    Lindholm/Zuerlein

    Bills
    Lindell/Potter

    Steelers
    Hrapmann/Suisham

(Note: Not saying all of these are competitions or that all of the aforementioned players have a non-zero chance of being cut. I'm saying that some teams may be cutting kickers that are better than Folk and Brown, and so I just named each team's kickers).

Who is better: Folk or Brown? Are they both worse than a player who may be available after final roster cuts? Or, is it worth cutting the lesser of the two (Folk or Brown) and picking up a kicker that gets cut? Discuss.

If Kaeding or Janikowski get cut, they would be my kicker, but neither is going to get cut.

Did he figure out how to make kicks in the playoffs yet?

Folk is consistently doing better in practices. Is biggest weakness is something that Brown does pretty well in: the long ball (47+)

Personally I'm fine with Folk but I would like the Jets to bring in a few more guys after cuts.

I'm way more worried about finding a better punter, however. Maybe your idea for finding a kicker could be used the exact same way for a punter.

The Jets need a punter more than a kicker. Nick Folk was inconsistent last year, but Conley was worse.

The Pats kicker Koepplin has been looking great on kickoffs but I haven't seen him try many field goals. No idea if he'd be an upgrade over Folk because of how unproven he is, but he's definitely gonna be out there.

Idk, but Folk has missed too many key/easy FG's for me to be a fan. Plus he can't even kick the ball to the 10 yardline while other kickers are kicking it out of the end zone. Tom Brady would probably be an upgrade at K over Folk. (I know, that may be a little harsh)

Especially with our defensive strategy. Field position and pinning opponents back inside their own 20 will be crucial.

I only do it if its an obvious upgrade.

Personally, I prefer Brown. The guy has a strong leg and I feel is more consistent. He had a poor year last year but that offense was also horrific so he didn't get many looks.

Folk just makes me nervous. He can make a big one but also could shank a gimme. He reminds me a lot of John Hall.

Josh Brown just drilled a 57-yard FG in warmups. Nick Folk's attempt died 5-yards into the end zone. #nyj

I am most concerned with the punting of Conley. He needs to be cut right after this game. He is flat out awful. The Jets need to swing a deal with Oakland for Marquette King.

Almost every free agent punter from a top 20 school is better than Conley at this point. Cut him, this is awful.
