    Exactly what I was thinking. We're down a FB and a TE? Good thing we have a back up FB/TE! The media and the Tebots have been waiting for him to start: here's his chance.

    As much as I worry about the Pats, Winslow's just another one of these over-the-hill vets they sign that won't do much for them. Remember Haynesworth, Ochostinko or Joseph Addai?

    Sadly he'd be an upgrade to our TE depth chart. Regardless we shouldn't sign him we need a blocker.

    EDIT: He was cut "per his request" so at least he didn't suck his way out of NE. Seems the reason is that Hernandez is progressing faster than expected back from his injury.

    Winslow asked for his release he did not get cut.

    FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Tight end Kellen Winslow asked to be released by the Patriots and the team obliged Thursday, according to a source.

    Winslow asked for his release because it looks like Hernandez will be back early..probably just in time for the Jets game.

    He would be a good pick up for us. Yes he not a good blocker neither is Keller but with his talent teams will have to cover him. Plus he could open up things for Holmes.

    asking for your release and being cut are absolutely 100% not the same thing.

    The Pats and most good teams have systems in place and make decisions that will help things keep going in a positive direction in the face of adversary.


    We are more read and react, Revis gets hurt make a RB a CB and see what happens.

    I wonder if Jeff Cumberland playing 3 games and starting 2 of them while Winslow was on the sideline for 1 game has anything to do with that.

    Nope! Cumberland > Winslow

    The Pats TE got hurt so they signed a guy that asked to be cut after 4 snaps and that's a better system?

    guys kellen winslow asked to be released because his knees just weren't holding up anymore. i think hes going to retire so there is no point in attempting to sign him
