Before last nights complete ass rape, I had a number of friends call me (who are not Jets fans) telling me they saw on ESPN that there are rumors that the Chargers are in talk with the Jets about trading us Philip Rivers. I have yet to find anything on it and was wondering if anyone on here has heard the same?

Also, if these rumors are in fact true, how would you feel about him coming here?

phillip rivers is past his prime. his arm strength has diminished. now he needs to put a lot more force into throws that he use to make regularly as a result he's less accurate and more mistake prone.

If we can somehow trade him for Sanchez, do it. He doesn't make nearly the same amount of game changing turnovers as Sanchez does.

    LOL

I'm not saying I'd welcome him with open arms. I'm asking if anyone has heard these same rumors and where they are coming from?

If the trade involves shipping Sanchez over to SD, and doesn't cost us much in draft picks, i'd be up for it.
Another year of Sanchez will = another year of losing terribly. FO has to do something about QB for next year.

He would definitely be a huge improvement over Sanchez, I can't imagine any scenario where it would happen though.

I'll tell you what, if this rumor is true, his stats are much better than Sanchez. He has a very good completion percentage and his rating is pretty high this year. The only downfall is his constant interceptions. Second in the league in interceptions

Bernie Kosar also had a terrible throwing motion. He had a shelf life of 8 years. I thought it was absolutely the correct call when Belichick cut him. That turned me into a Belichick fan (lasted until he resigned as HC of the NYJ).

Anyway, about that Kosar arm motion, Rivers has a similar elongated awkward delivery. I think he is going to be like Kosar and not last much longer as an effective QB. I am certain that it takes him at least an extra half second to release a pass than it did five years ago.

Which is all the more reason I don't buy it. If it's a deal next year it's being discussed by two GM's who more than likely BOTH have no jobs come January.

Why would a rumor surface now?

Did some 15-year old kid start this rumor on Twitter or Bleacher Report?

So you think the chargers, right now in the middle of the season, are in talks with the jets about trading rivers in the offseason. LOL.

I have no idea. I had multiple people call me and say they heard it off ESPN. These aren't your little kids calling either. These are extreme football fanatics that know every player on every team by name.

I'm trying to locate it, but can't find anything, hence why I am asking
