Heh. Let me say that again. Heh. Yesterday was a rough day for Sanchez fans. Oh well. I was right again.
Heh. Another poster who looks like he's not so smart after yesterday, but on the merits, I never understand this "played well against backups" idea. It's not like McElroy played with the first stringers against those backups. He was playing with third stringers, too. Let's put that one in the toilet where it belongs.
FTR I never said I knew McElroy would get it done if they put him in there, unilke all those who were certain, just certain, he would suck. Give him a chance. Well he got it, and proved the doubters wrong. It's a lesson in humility.
McElroy played better than Sanchez in limited time yesterday. I was impressed that he wasn't a hot mess like the Arizona QB was, but expectations were low. I hope they give him a fair shot with week of full reps with the starters and the start this week. But you know damn well things change quickly in this league once you put snaps on film. That will be the true test. Way to early to make a statement like that.
To different people. I don't post here on weekends, so I was merely getting back to those posts since last Friday. And is there a rule against that?
7 passes and you're pounding your chest like godzilla taking over the empire state building. 7 passes didn't prove much but hopefully he can continue to play mistake free football because that's is upgrade. I suspect NFL defenses will catch up with his obvious limitations very quickly. Maybe he can prove me wrong with 7 more passes though.
Welp, I didn't see that one coming. Not that I'm complaining after sitting through the first three quarters yesterday. I'd say that jury's still out on McElroy proving the doubters wrong, no? 5-7 for 29 yards against a gassed defense isn't exactly Canton material. I'm happy that McElroy exceeded my expectations for his debut, but I suggest you dial it back until he at least plays a full game (especially if you're going to be doling out "lessons in humility.")
I see nothing wrong with making fun of the posters here who were so certain MacElroy would suck. You being one of them, I guess I should not be surprised you see it differently. Having said that, I never said I predict great success for McElroy. But... he is an upgrade over Sanchez until shown to be otherwise. That's enough for me.
Gassed??? Where'd you come up with that one? The Jets had three possessions in the second half before McElroy came in. First, a three and out, the Jets held the ball for 1 minute and 3 seconds. Next, they did get a first down by running green on second and five, but then failed to convert again. Five plays, TOP was 2 minutes and 28 seconds. Next and last the Jets again went three and out. TOP was 1 minute and 31 seconds. Then they sat on the bench for their O before McElroy and the Jets came in. I also watched the game. They were in short not gassed, but I give you points for creativity.
