I'm not drafting a 34 OLB to cover a TE. You draft one to pressure the QB. If your worried about covering TE's we need to look at the safty class closer. Jordan is a freak, but Jarvis Jones has the ability to be a terror off the edge and a full time player this season. Jordan needs work both in the weight room and technique. I'd take Jones over Jordan, but would be happy with either one. Both should become impact players off the edge.
Extremely short but pretty cool vids on the 2 OLB being brought up most in this thread. Each player has plenty of clips on youtube in case anybody wants to see more of them. DaMontre Moore also uploaded there.
You can find every snap of a game on tons of prospects now days. If you want to a quick search and boom. You can get three games of a guy done in 20 mins. It's nice for guys like me that can't watch three games a Saturday anymore lol.
I'd be happy with either one. I like jones because of his playmaking ability. He seems to always be around the ball and creating havoc/turnovers. I love Jordan because of his coverage ability and speed off the edge. Defenses wouldn't know who's coming with Jordan on the outside. Either way I think we come out with a great young football player if one of these guys is selected
+1 Jordan intrigues me, but i'm still skeptical as well. I've backed Damontre Moore multiple times. Wouldnt mind Jones though.
I also want Jarvis Jones because we need an OLB not another DE. We need a a pass rushing linebacker and he's the perfect fit.
It's possible that Jordan might, but highly unlikely in my opinion. Jarvis Jones, I think, can definitely fall to us at 9. Even though he was cleared of any problems from the doctors regarding his spinal injury, teams are still leery about him, which is why I can easily see him falling
Cant go wrong with either one its like choosing potentially between Von Miller(Jarvis Jones) or Aldon Smith(Dion Jordan) both similar to those 2 I want no part of Damontre Moore however
I like the thought of Jones over Jordan too. but i also like the versatility of Ziggy Ansah ! rex would love him.
Ansah is another guy I love. If Jordan and Jones are taken before we pick, I would go with Ansah. I would just hate to draft another DE. We really need an OLB like Jones to help this defense. Coples should pan out nicely at DE. Jarvis Jones would make me do cartwheels if we got him
The jets should get a real good player at 9. Jones is my first choice but Jordan would be good too. I prefer they not go DT but star lotullei or Floyd may be avail there (doubt Floyd will be there). My preference would be to get an edge pass rusher. Other than geno smith (who likely won't be there) I don't see the value in getting a guy on offense at #9.
I agree we do have enough DE's first choice is def. Jones ! he is a pure OLB but if they ARE gone lets say.. due to the fact Ziggy is so versatile i could see him as a good transition to OLB. we have depth in the draft at that needed position atleast !
Definitely. This draft is loaded with talent at key positions we need. OL, OLB, Safety, and RB. We are rebuilding at a perfect time. We can walk away from this draft with an pass rusher, offensive lineman, tight end, and a running back. This is going to be a very interesting and important draft.
Yes ! i would feel a million times better about the upcoming season if we got 1.Jarvis Jones(Or,Jordan/Moore) 2.Gio Bernard 3.Kyle Long(the OL player we need) 4.A TE(Or delanie walker) 5.Safety(to compliment Landry 2.0 or Pollard)
I think the thing about Dion Jordan that everyone likes is his all-around ability. He can do it all, that includes rushing the passer. He needs to develop more pass-rushing moves, but he's a terror off the edge as well. Scouts rave about his closing speed as well. His coverage skills are bar-none out of any of the linebackers. Both are beasts IMO. I for one, would like Jarvis Jones because he's better against the run right away. We need that from our linebackers. The Georgia's defensive line was far too aggressive, if you remember the SEC Championship game, Georgia got abused by the Alabama offensive line.
I understand Jordan's ability just fine. The point is if I'm drafting a 34 OLB, his pass rushing ability is the most important aspect, followed by run defense, pass coverage comes in third. Jones right now is the better pass rusher and its not really close. Jordan is a very good pass rusher, but needs work to get to Jones's level in that area. Jordan may have more potential because of his athletic attributes, but that is a projection, right now Jones is the better football player who also has very good NFL upside.
Well again I'm not disagreeing with you, me quoting you just builds on the reason as to why some may prefer Jordan over Jones. To me, doesn't matter whose on the board - if both are well you got yourself a good problem at the 9 spot.
