It's been confusing me for a while lately. I can't think of any reason why the NFL scheduled us like that. It's not a marquee matchup at all. The talent levels on paper seem to have a wide margin, meaning a blowout likely in their favor. I just don't get it. Is it just the NFL trying to be sadistic? They could have had us host a primetime MNF game against the Saints or Pittsburgh. Pitt would have made the most sense out of the two.
^^ Not sure then. I mean I know the NFL scheduled games on MNF for us during National Hispanic Heritage Month against MIA in MIA because of MIA's makeup of their population and Sanchez on our team. MNF seems to get the less marquee matchups than SNF. Maybe by having ATL instead of a weaker team like MIA or BUF tries to guarantee one top team.
The league gets good publicity from the Jets playing good teams on prime time football, it's guaranteed people will turn on the game to watch the Jets make fools of themselves, it's the best comedy show on television.
As much as I hate to say it, that is true. The Jets generate a lot of hate from other fans and they want to tune in to see us lose. It was even like that in 2010 when we were winning. There was just such a huge level of hate from everyone else. They all desperately stare at their screens craving for the Jets to fail. HOWEVER, I think the Falcons will take a step back this year. I was never fully convinced by them last season, and I am not now. I believe they have the potential to fall to 2nd or maybe even 3rd in the division. Not only did they lose some decent players, the other teams in the division will be better. The Saints will have Payton back and a fresh year for Drew Brees without all the suspensions and drama. They will be back to contender status. Tampa Bay has a top 10 offense, with Freeman starting to come around and the young stud Martin. They will only get better as they gel more. They fixed their biggest hole adding a future hall of famer CB. Both teams are in good shape. Panthers could also be a dark horse. They could make a run if they play their cards right. Either way, we can beat the Falcons, only problem is we are always cursed on prime time games and love to stink it up on national TV. It's about time we end that trend! The Jets play AFC North and NFC South this year. Call me crazy, but I honestly fear the NFC South more, despite facing the defending champions.
That game seems random but it could be a decent matchup if the Jets overachieve and the Falcons play good.
Rex's defense owned the Falcons last time they played in 2009. The reason we lost the game was that Sanchez sucked. The powers that be gave the Jets a prime time game against an opponent that Rex and his defense could beat if the offense is worth anything at all. It could be much worse. We could be going against the Patriots or Ravens in prime time. Just think of the buzz a win against the Falcons would create early in the season if Rex has things pulled together on the defensive side of the ball and the offense can actually score a few TD's.
You must look at the whole situation. Disregard everything the offense did during the first 58 minutes. The defense couldn't hold late game lead. It is the defense's fault.
Its in the first half of the season before the Jets are completely out of it and its not taking a game away from CBS which is the Jets home network. There are always MNF games like this every year. We won't suck enough to bypass all together. As a season ticket holder so glad its on the road. Seven 1pm games, yeah baby. And no Turkey day games. Raiders vs. Broncos- dont' care about history, Raiders suck Texans vs. Chargers - Chargers are going to suck Colts vs. Chargers - Ditto Seahawks vs. Rams - Rams overrated but hype gets them one game at hone
Same reason they gave us a tough schedule... Same reason they put us up against Tampa Bay in week 1.. It's bullshit but really.. what can we do ?
FWIW, I am hoping that Atlanta is caught looking ahead and disregards us. We can actually squeeze out a win if that happens.
^ haha, saw what you did there. Frustrating game. Sanchez threw a beauty of a pass to Braylon and after that it was one screw up after another with 3 FGs messed up, Sanchez (3 picks) and the offense repeatedly squandering short field possessions, a dropped INT by Revis (and critical PF penalties to Strickland & Fanaca) at crunch time and the Jets end up losing at home to a 6-7 team that was already out of playoff contention. Rex himself even pretty much gave up on the season in his post-game interview. Bottom line: fighting for a playoff spot, vs. an Atlanta team out of it, AT HOME , and the offense "ran up" 7 measley fucking points. More Jet fans were ejected for throwing snowballs than points scored by both teams. Yep, defense's fault.
Not afraid of Atlanta at all. Rex is gonna own that lesbian looking Ratt Myan. Ivory gonna beast on that D like when he was with New Orleans. Makes me sick seeing Jets fans nervous about this season.
Jets will surprise many this year. I feel positive after a long time. We will talk about that game when the time comes but a Jets victory won't surprise me.
Why not just ask Goodell where U will get the true answer to tour question. His twitter account is NFLcommish
