I get what you are saying about bringing down that "Pats Aura" but that was NOT created by magic. Can we learn from our rivals/enemies?? I am open to that. Fact is BB is on his way to the Hall of Fame. He is no lame a-- coach and for every failure the guy has helped coach successful players who own SB rings. I am jealous of that success??? Sorry to say I am...respectfully so. Rex is, Idzik is, Woody is...but they won't admit it. .Who cares about his staff? Maybe they didn't take notes lol. The last great Coaches the Jets have had are dinosaur years ago, Weeb Eubanks, maybe Parcells. The Pats have owned the AFC East for some time and Garappolo is a talented player IMO miles better in his own right than Cassel,Mallet, Hoyer. Belichek was able to see good talent and he managed to sign him. FTR I not going to name all the Pat players eg Edelman, Gronkowsky etc who have done well under BB . I HATE the Pats as much as you do and by no means do I want them to succeed/beat us down but if you think they have not developed/got the most out of players then you are in denial. Someone on the TGG once asked me, what if history had been different and Bill Bellichek was not screwed over years ago by our FO??? Well then, we would have had that nobody T. Brady and the rest would be history Bad luck I guess.
Belichick is an excellent coach, I think he established that himself already but let's not pretend Belichick is perfect. He's made mistakes on the field as well as off the field. You were thinking way too much into what I was saying and went completely off-topic to what I was saying. Garappolo maybe talented, but last time I checked, you didn't earn your rep in the preseason. You have no idea if he will be better than those previous drafted QBs (whom all suck). Garappolo hasn't even played a full snap in a regular season game. I can tell you one thing, he won't be as good as Brady.
Yes, you are right, Brady is a hard act to follow. Sorry to go off on a rant like that. Other than being caught at spying/cheating, I wish our Coaches had a BB mistakes vs success ratio. Jury IS still out on JG and the problem is he may sit an entire NFL season if Tom Brady stays healthy and we don't get to see him play.
2 of those guys are opening day starters this year and the other will soon be starting. Becoming 1 of the 32 starting QB's in the NFL is one of the hardest things to accomplish in the world of sports. None of those guys were anything special coming out of college so it can be argued that without their experience in NE that would never have amounted to anything. Maybe it mattered, maybe it didn't. I hate the Pats but I'm not going to scoff at a player because he didn't become hall of fame caliber. Now, Garoppolo is a far superior prospect than any of his predecessors. He will be a good nfl QB. Let's just hope his ceiling is good, not great.
Belichik is a good head coach because he inherited a ton of talent on defense when he arrived at the Pats and then he found Tom Brady. I don't think the Pats will come within 2 wins of their average once Brady retires. They may not come within 4 wins of their average. Belichik was 5-13 through 18 games with Drew Bledsoe at QB. Never forget that.
We will never find out. Bellicheat will retire when Brady does and the world will remember him as the greatest coach ever.
You are dreaming. Garapollo is not even going to play, and if he does the Pats are in deep trouble because their skill players are not very good and the OL just got weaker. And if anyone thinks Tommy Boy is going to happily tutor his replacement, think again. Brady is as selfish as they come and when NE decides he is done, he will not go quietly or do "what's best for the team." He'll do what's best for Brady. He himself said he wants to play for many years going forward. Garapollo will be the next Mallet and get traded three years from now for nothing or Brady will be traded two years from now if he continues showing the decline he started to show last season.
Agreed. Kraft will try to tell him to retire, and say it's best for his legacy, but Brady wants to play until the wheels fall off and he'll have tons of teams that would be thrilled to have him. His favorite team was the 49ers and he dreamed of being their QB- but, maybe some other team. Belichick "should" retire when Brady does to cement his legacy, but the rumors are that in private he has completely ruled that out. A major goal of his is to win a SB without Brady so that people won't say that he just got lucky with Brady, and so he'll have a stronger argument in the "greatest of all time" debate. Makes sense to trade Brady in 2016 or so for a first and second or two firsts or whatever- to a desperate/bad team, and just stock up on top picks to build around the new QB.
More so than cheating to win Super Bowls, belichick may have ugly skeletons come to light once this Hernandez trial begins
You are missing it with the Chargers. The Chargers are probably the 4th hardest matchup, if not the hardest because its in San Diego. I have much more confidence against the Lions/Bears than the Chargers, hell even Denver because its in NY.
Yes I said in later post he won't play unless TB is injured and I am happy their OL is weaker. Brady is an egotistical cry baby and is aging out. It would be nice if the Jets beat them with AFC East on the line. Best chance is when we play NE at home. Not understanding why you are so underwhelmed with J.Garropollo. Have you bothered to check out his tape? Or is a snippet of preseason enough for you? I think the Pats keep him as long as they can and if they are going to let him go down the road our GM should grab him. Had a dinner and interview with Jets but his agent I am sure told him Geno has a lock on QB for years to come since he is one of Idzik's mini projects. He deserved to get picked in second round and I doubt Mallet was his equal. Pats probably grooming him for future and don't need Brady's approval...of course, Brady will do what's good for Brady, so he might leave for more $. Please, at the end of the day BB trumps Brady in how that team is run.
Admire your enthusiasm. So we are beating Denver and Chicago? Wow. Phillip Rivers has improved but not sure I would fear him like Manning or Cutler.
We have taken a shit on Rivers in the past Rex is 2-1 against him as head coach of Jets. Why are we suppose to be afraid of the Chargers exactly?
No but we are not going to win. I'd say right now the Chargers are the #2 team in the AFC. The Jets beating them in their building would be quite the accomplishment.
Thanks, good points made here. Cassel and Hoyer are both adequate starters for their teams respectively and earned their way up there. Hoyer is starting over Manziel, as he should be. IMO they learned more at NE than just how to carry a clipboard lol. Don't believe surly Belichek let them stand around and collect a check. If Garappolo goes great then you, me and Falco will get merit badges on TGG for I told you so. Unfortunately for the Jets we have to play against another talented opponent.......in our own Division. So I guess we find a way to beat him or back into playoffs some other way. The road to the SB is never easy.
