Personally I love that show, and the 2010 Jets being on it is a major reason why im a jet fan today! I think with all of the organizational and personnel changes that are most likely coming down the pipe this offseason, we would be a great candidate for the show! I would love to see this. Its my understanding that Rex was the one of the main voices in being opposed to the idea of doing another season, and if he is let go then im sure it could be a possibility? thoughts?
Rex and the Revis drama were the only reason the first time around was a success. Wherever Rex goes would be the best choice.
I think it could potentially be a great way to meet our new HC and see what he's bringing. With Milliner, McDougle, and Pryor all having something to prove next year there is potential for good story lines there. The biggest story would be who's starting at QB? If we got to see Geno, a FA/Trade (Hoyer, RG3, Bradford), and whatever QB we take in the second round (Dak Prescott) in a real QB competition that would absolutely be something I would tune in for. Lots of potential depending on acquisition. Just imagine we sign Suh for example. Viewership would go through the roof.
Terrible idea. Just a terrible, terrible idea. If we want to get away from the "circus" reputation, it starts with continuing what started when Tanny left: keep the media out of everything we do and make them create stories out of what little we give them. Bringing in the media allows them to frame the story how they want it; the Jets should be in control. Admittedly fun for fans, but terrible for the Jets as an organization that wants to become a success and not a laughingstock.
Hard knocks? With all this organization is going through we should volunteer for hard knocks? They have to force teams to do that now. Wow some our fans...
I disagree. I think the way to get rid of the circus mantra is to associate ourselves with competent, professional executives and players and then display it for the world to see the change. A hidden circus is still a circus.
I love Hard Knocks. I wish the Jets could do it every season. I love getting a behind the scenes look at my team. HBO does a great job with that show. I'd be all in for them going back on.
yeah im a terrible fan because I want to watch my teams offseason,... infact why am I even on the internet talking about them! blasphemy!
Is that how we were perceived in 2010 Hardknocks? Then again, Rex won't be here next year, but still...
If you want what's best for your favorite team and were a smart fan then you would want no part of hard knocks. Most of us have been fans much longer than a few years and we all would prefer not to see them make yet another stupid mistake. 32 of 32 teams turn down hard knocks for a reason.
Reality shows are NOT real... everyone is acting for the cameras. Just take Rex and his opening training camp remarks. He sounded like a complete asshole from the starting gun. I think hard knocks is a distraction for any of "serious" NFL teams who are looking to build their foundation right from the start of the season. bad idea, very bad.
It's a good point. As soon as a camera is pointed at someone, they stop acting normally. Remember those Lawrence Taylor features from NFL Films? All that 'let's go out there like a bunch of crazed dogs and have some fun'? His teammates said they always knew when he was mic'd up, because he just never did any of that stuff when he wasn't.
My thoughts are: No way in hell that 2015 Jets are on Hard Knocks. Can you imagine what a train wreck it would've been to see the 2014 Jets on Hard Knocks...with all of the picks busting.
Hard Knocks not good Thoughts are Bad vibes to teams Be seen as a distraction? Conspiracy against Jets? discuss
I would like to see the SB winner on hard knocks every year. Maybe our FO could watch it and get some tips.
The first thing you notice about Hard Knocks is how all of the league's elite franchises avoid it like the plague.
Unless Woody wants it, there's no way. New head coached teams are not eligible for this unless they specifically want to. So the NFL can't force the Jets to do it. Chicago NY Jets Oakland San Francisco (Maybe) Tennessee (Maybe) Miami (Maybe) Washington (Maybe) Atlanta are exempt from the rule. A team with a coach already in place could be picked randomly. On October 8, 2013, the NFL announced that one team each year will be required to participate in Hard Knocks. Teams may still volunteer to be on the show. Teams with new coaches, teams that have been in the playoffs at least once in the past 2 years, or teams that have done the show once in the past 10 years are exempt from being forced into appearing on the show. Buffalo, and NY Giants will be among the lucky few for this if Coughlin and Marrone are kept. I'd love to see the Giants reaction to getting picked.
