felt the same for the longest time. i grew up on 80's football, hating on the Dolphins, while the Pats were completely irrelevant. still hate on the fish.. but as much as i couldn't stand Shula or Marino, Belichick and Br*dy (and Kraft) have far surpassed the Dolphins on my dislike index.. i've never come across an organization like this. they are genuinely scumbags on and off the field. and the passive aggressive arrogance they've had for quite some time isn't so passive anymore. have to admit, i'm loving that the rest of the country is seeing what we've already known for quite some time. here's hoping this org keeps making themselves look worse and worse throughout this attempted cover up process.
Your post guaranteed that a vast majority would say no to Vick, I disproved you with a poll showing 53% were in favor of Vick, you now link to a few random posts that were against the signing. How does this back up your previous post? They don't. 53% were in favor of Vick, 83% are against Brady at this point. 83% is a vast majority, 46% is a minority. That you can not see the difference is very telling. And please stop telling those of us that would be against Brady coming here that we would be for it. There is not one shred of evidence to support your conclusion. That you would welcome a known cheater is your choice, it seems the majority here have higher standards though.
My point was that the proportion of people who were against signing Michael Vick went down when he was actually signed, so I assume that the proportion of people who are against signing Tom Brady would go down if he were actually signed. We'll have to agree to disagree because it's a scenario that will never happen in all likelihood.
Everything about those gay ass uniforms, Shula, Jason Taylor, Zac Taylor, and Marino - bunch of assholes man. They would always talk shit on the Jets constantly. Their fan-base is as fake as it comes. I agree about the Pats though, but the Fins were a bunch of bitches.
Except the percentage against Vick was the minority and the percentage against Brady is a very clear majority. There is absolutely nothing you have posted that even comes close to proving the proportion of people against Vick went down after his signing, a couple of posts from people resigned to the fact means nothing and you have even less to back up your assumption that the 83% against having Brady would suddenly do an about face and welcome him. We'll have to agree that your post has no basis in reality.
i get what you are saying in the sense that the needle moves a little after a signing.... but you are vastly overestimating how much that needle moves. in Vicks case, Jet fans didn't just warm up to him because he was on the green and white. the amount of angry posts on this board alone was very abundant. myself included. many of those who got behind the signing was due to the low risk 1 year nature of the deal. so they didn't slam the move, but doesn't mean they were happy with it either. other were just happy Sanchez was finally gone. there were some pro-Idzik people too, who thought every move he made was gold none of this had anything to do with approving of Vick himself. and these were not even the majority of fans who were swayed for one reason or another, only a slice of the pie chart. so if Br*dy had a similar reception, that % of disapproval would go down a little. but it would still be a vast majority of Jet fans pissed off we did it, and would have a hard time rooting for that weasel. it would be short lived, and wouldn't end well.
I hate the offseason. I've put too much effort already into a debate that will never have any import into any meaningful context. I'll resign and admit that a fan base that has endlessly starved for a quarterback will erupt into a fit of outrage if we were to sign one with 3 Super Bowl MVPs and a .773 winning percentage. Frankly, I don't care to defend my stance any longer because I hate the guy.
so put away the theories for a minute. you hate the guy. ok, so do I. would you then be thrilled to get this weasel pushing 40, coming off his history of cheating, and do back flips that we signed him? you really think that would be the answer? i wouldn't. i'd see it as the beginning of the end of our promising new GM and coach. we'd be right back to looking for a QB the following year. would set the franchise back, and disgust me in the interim.
can't believe those uniforms managed to get even gayer.. like gelato in motion, with a phallic fish logo. all 3 florida team uniforms are disgraceful. Nike at its finest.
I'd see him as a perfect mentor for Bryce Petty (or a draft pick next year) for 2 years and a great short term option at QB in the mean time. I can see where you and others come from though. Difference of opinions doesn't always mean that someone is wrong.
well i guess that's where you stand. over 80% of Jets fans disagree with you. personally, i can't even fathom advocating for a move like that. think it would be a bad move for us on a number of levels.
1. Just stop. 2. I was against Vick, and I was against Gayson Taylor. I did support them once they were wearing Jet Green - that's because I don't trash Jet player. 3. That said, Vick or Gayson is not a cheater that T*m is. [Neither is Don Shula - he is a cheap fuck, but still ain't no cheater.] 4. That's why I also said I quit being a Jet fan once Jets sign T*m.
I can appreciate some of the arguments people have given to me but not this one. You can forgive a dog killer but not a guy who asked someone to deflate a couple footballs? Let's check on some priorities.
People can forgive Vick because he did the time for the crime, and for all intents and purposes has reformed since then. A year ago I respected Brady as a qb and what he could do, and would have said yes. Today, no. That he's still denying wrongdoing and won't change his ways is appalling.
I always felt that Woody would sign Brady after he was washed up and the Pats cut him. Hopefully this cheating has it an end to that possibility. I wouldn't touch Bellichick with rubber gloves and a pocket full of penicillin.
There is no way I would want either of them in the organization. Just hate them both soooooooooo much.
Vick served his time in jail, and has been a changed man to say the very least; Cheating Tom? He is STILL denying his cheating. So what is YOUR priority? Hound on a guy who 1. did his time in jail and 2. repented his wrongdoing or 2. a shameless cheater that denies everything?
That's good to hear. So I'm not alone ; ) Hey, it made the 51-45 '86 game and Monday Night Miracle that much more enjoyable for me. I also witnessed the Chad Cascadden fumble recovery TD game in December of '98 in Miami. I enjoyed that trip, and game a lot too. IMO (which isn't necessarily correct) Miami is one of the great over-rated teams. By that I mean, in the past 20 years they've done nothing, yet every summer they're picked to do well. They're always predicted to be better than us. Always. While we were at our worst we always seems to give Miami teams a battle. There were many years where that was all I had to hang my hat on as a Jets fan.
Don't forget about their fake-ass fanbase too, bunch of front-runners. Yeah, can't tell you how many times, I have seen Fin fans say, "this is our year!" only to go 7-9 or 8-8. I love the Jets-Dolphins rivalry, one of the more storied rivalries in NFL history. Nothing better than being the crap out of the Dolphins. Everything is just intense, you can just feel it when those 2 match up.
