Yep. Despite the needs elsewhere, I doubt the FO is prepared to rely on Mauldin as the answer to the linebacker situation (along with bringing back Henderson). They will do something else.

Reading that Fitz "was the best quarterback the franchise has seen since Mark Sanchez at his peak" made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Absolutely sickening to read that article. It drives home the point even further that with the exception of D-Linemen (and we're really only talking about Wilkerson & Richardson), that this organization's scouting department (Terry Bradway in particular) couldn't find any young talent during the 2008 - 2014 draft years that sits on the roster to this day. 7 FUCKING YEARS. Ok - Calvin Pryor in 2014, ----- but I've seen recently that even Jace Amaro (2014 2nd rounder) is on the roster bubble (i dont agree).

No OL. No WRs. No QB. No TE. Can't include RB as Powell was drafted & a 4th rounder was traded for Ivory.
No ILBs. No OLBs. Not much in the secondary (Revis drafted in 2007, but Cro, Skrine & Gilchrist came from elsewhere).

Amazing. The closer I thought this team was to the playoffs, - the further it looks to be from the offseason after years & years of setbacks from the old regime.

    God Help Mike Maccagnan.

It's like saying Whoopi Goldberg is the hottest girl I've dated since I broke up with Mama Fratelli from " The Goonies."

I'm in basic agreement here...you missed Leonard, though...he was pretty stellar last season for a Rook. Outside of Pryor, Leonard and a modest mention of another guy or two we really have drafted like dogshit the last decade...roughly. How is it that teams like the Packers and Ravens are so often able to find solid contributors throughout the whole draft? Scouting...I know Mac made changes last year and that is essentially a wash...so I'm hoping that there was some kind of upgrade and we'll see it this year because we could really use some "gems" from the 3rd round on down to fill in the gaps on our O-line and LB'ing corps.

Reading between the lines SI is saying we are going to regress....

In the AFC east who knows... Injuries will tell the tail as they usually do.

Our schedule next year will be twice as hard as this years.. Hopefully we can go 4-2 in the division or better.. If not it will be tough to be in the show.

He's in a real shitty spot to the point where he absolutely needs to start pulling starters left and right out of the mid-rounds of the draft. We need to pray that Devin Smith can look to replace Marshall in another year or two, Mauldin becomes a solid starter, and even someone like Jarvis Harrison finds a way to push his way into the starting lineup.

This is by far the most depressing page on the planet for a Jets fan.

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/draft.htm

From 2008-2010 we have zero players on the roster. 2011 gave us Wilk (potentially moved) and our backup runningback in Powell. 2012 leaves us with potentially only Antonio Allen as I expect DD to be gone.

Anyone who thinks we should trade up is absolutely nuts. I'm hoping if the edge rushers we're targeting, the top 2 ILB, Wentz and Zeke are all gone at 20 we trade down. It'd probably makes sense regardless if they're there. Maccagnan needs to give himself as many chances to draft starters as he can.

That's why I disliked the Revis deal so much. We really could've used the help to stretch the money he got over 2 or 3 players given how little depth everywhere. The offensive line is going to be in fucking shambles if one starter gets hurt assuming we stand pat there.

There is no way this franchise doesn't get some Oline help. That would be bonkers. If we don't get some youth in there, we would be kissing the season goodbye. I can't believe Macc would be that short sighted.

Pressuring the QB is a necessity, we need a guy who can do this consistently.

I don't see him taking a tackle in the first, and that could mean banking on a second round tackle in a weak offensive line class making an impact. It looks like the guard class in the mid rounds is a lot stronger and very versatile as compared to a lot of the tackles that scouting reports read to be big lumbering guys.

I'm hoping the O-line improves through addition by subtraction, say Brian Winters deciding to leave the NFL to take up synchronized swimming.

He sounds like he will need some work in the weight room and some development, but I really like what I've been reading about Le'Raven Clark. What do you think of him? Also the Spriggs kid from Indiana sounds like he could be a possibility. What do you think of him?

    Yeah man

Our drafting has me shaking my head

    Truly
the league, the sport, is built on picking and developing talent- whilst sprinkling in key vets AND a good QB

    We sucked at that

    So depressing

He's been a favorite of mine since August, 2015. I'm convinced that with his athleticism (and we'll find out more this week) that he could actually play LT in his rookie year. He's demonstrated himself to be an excellent position blocker with great footwork. He's not a mauler though, - but that's not mandatory for LTs. He benefited in the run game from having 1 of the best OGs in the country next to him (Dan Feeney). Would love him to be there at our 2nd round pick (#51), - but he's most likely be gone by then. Is he the best value at pick 20? That's the question. I'd be thrilled with a trade down to mid-30s to grab him & get some extra picks. Magic Mike could strike.

I still think Ivory had a lot left in the tank but wasn't used as much once Powell came back. Last game of the year he played well when he got the ball but had 6 carries. Terrible game plan last game. Should have been fed the rock much more instead we gave the ball to Ridley.

Maybe, but my take is the opposite. I think Ivory was beaten up and injured, and would never had played had it been just another game. He agreed to go in for very limited snaps in crucial situation.

I think you're right. My memory is fuzzy at this point, but I think I remember the announcers talking about Ivory being banged up, and he didn't look the same as earlier in the season. He may have even been doubtful before the game, but I could be mistaken.

Well it only took a decade or so to pass to realize that Bradway was a steaming pile of shit as a talent evaluator. I think we're on the right track to stockpiling a talented, deep roster with Mac in charge.

I like Mac and I think he'll succeed. I don't envy him his task this offseason. So many holes to fill (aging OL, LB's, RB's, TE's, cap space, ST talent). He'll be a magician if he manages to address 3/4 of them adequately. I think he MUST find a trading partner for Mo or else let him walk. He just doesn't have the resources otherwise.

I think it ultimately boils down to that. Maccagnan is going to be unable to build the rest of the roster if he uses the majoroty of the remaining cap space he does on Wilkeron.
