You and I aren't too far apart on this. I was thinking about a second this year and a potential 3/2/1 next year depending if he hits certain marks/ stays on the roster etc.
Totally agree. It is dwindling down to a trade that might entail a decent player in a position of need and a second, or one more year of Mo and then nothing to show for it on this team.
This deal didn't actually happen did it? I'm so confused right now. It's like the Jets media has decided to go all commando on us because there's nothing to report and they don't know what to do with that.
I think they've made the (oral) deals, but they haven't been able to sign them yet because they're waiting to free up cap space. As soon as (i) Mo is traded, (ii) Brick is cut or (iii) other contracts are redone to increase cap space, they'll probably be signed and officially announced.
It is an interesting off-season. So many things up in the air at once and so little flexibility until some hard decisions are made. You have to think the Jets expect to be without with Mo or Richardson next season to sign two late-prime players to significant contracts early in free agency. Losing Snacks was a key but there has to be another heavy boot falling on this one.
Does the cap apply now, or at the beginning of TC? Meaning, can we go over the cap now, or do we have to clear space to spend money? If we can't go over now, it makes some sense why we haven't done a deal with Fitz. (if they do plan on bringing him back) We can do all of our deals without his money holding us back, then move people later.
I believe it applies now, but only to the top 51 contracts (because you can have up to 90 players/contracts going into training camp).
yeah they must be planning on losing Mo or Richardson, and/or a Richardson suspension this season. I like that they've kept Dline a strength, but signing these 2 guys while letting Snacks and Douz go doesn't make sense on it's own. think this also means Simon is not necessarily a lock to make the 53. they wouldn't pay a 30yr old NT 4M per year to play a limited role if they thought Simon was ready.
Either that or they'll sign an LT and cut Brick. The guys they've made oral agreements with will not be comfortable sitting out there and hanging in the wind for very long.
Like a 3-4/4-3 hybrid front instead of a 3-4/46 is my guess. This is the work they couldn't do last year because Williams was by far the BPA on their pick and they had to take him. I'm expecting a lighter LB than we're used too on the 1st or 2nd day this year and probably another one on day 3.
With this D-line, you'll def see more 4-3. Hopefully we can pick up either Darron Lee from OSU or Deion Jones from LSU. Speedy linebackers with good instincts.
According to http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/ the deal is done. The writer there thinks Jenkins is the replacement for Harrison, not that Wilkerson is going. Ron
Sign that fat basterd from Baylor and put him on the line to plug a couple holes. His TE days are over.
Losing Mo and Harrison would be a disaster for the D Line .....We can't trade Mo.I have a better idea cut or trade Revis again
No, it isn't. You really need to a little research before you post. If Revis was cut now, the Jets would take a HUGE dead money hit on the cap to the tune of $25 million (the $17 million that is already on the cap plus an additional $8 million).
