There's no need to praise Carpenter for restructuring, he makes no sacrifice. And no way to Hardy, even if he stays straight with the law, he'll wreck the locker room. If I were a Jet and I saw the GM get rid of Mo/Brick to bring in that guy, I would want out.
Did anyone read Mehta's article criticizing the Jets for not informing DBrick that they might approach him for a salary cut to help us with the cap. He said the Jets should just warn him even though they don't know the specifics or timing, that he deserves the respect of the jets and that our GM has to learn and there's no excuse. This friggin guy make Cimini seem like the most positive guy on earth I mean are you that desperate to write a article that you come up with this. First off, you don't think Dbrick and his agents have already discussed this and don't know its coming? I've been hearing this for months, its so obvious. Since when do they owe a player an FYI just in case warning? WTF is going on with these sports writers. And the same day I gotta read shit about the Giants coach getting a makeover, the old coach still coming to the stadium and a 6 man committee to discuss time management. All stupid crap that if the Jets said this people would be laughing but the NY media eats this shit up because its Giants. Meanwhile. our writers say what bad shape our cap is in and we can't fix things for another year. Meanwhile we signed 4 players and given what like 22 million guaranteed and they are still not done. I just fucking hate the negative Jet shit and ass licking Giant crap. I don't care how many super bowls they won, this current jint orginization has sucked and does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...tment-ferguson-embarrassing-article-1.2574558
I agree with trading Mo. I agree with cutting Brick if they can find a suitable replacement. I don't think there is one in FA, so they'd have to get one in the draft first, and then cut Brick. You lost me at "Draft a DT in round 1". If that happens, I'm done with this team.
No way would I ever suggest getting rid of Mo/Brick for Greg Hardy, I just think his NFL career is on the line and he has to showout next season. He also hasn't had many offers so maybe 3-4 million does it which I'd take the risk for. I'm not for trading Mo at all unless we get a top 20 pick. I want Brick to take a paycut but if he doesn't we might have to chose between Fitz and Brick and that choice could go either way with the FO. Easier to draft Bricks replacement but he's been so valuable over the years and we don't want to overpay Fitz anyways.
I thought you meant using Hardy to replace Mo. Regardless, I wouldn't want him on the team. Not only is he a risk off the field, but he was a horrible teammate in Dallas. The players wanted him gone.
Mehta is retarded. Brick is making 14 mil this year, that's near the tops in the league for o lineman. How disrespectful! And I guarantee you Brick is smart enough to understand the business side of football, he doesn't need to be spoonfed information from the GM. The only good thing about the article is that it points out Brick has never been on the injury report his entire career. Now that is impressive.
Everyone knows it's March right? Mehta is just trying to get a reaction from the fan base at the slowest time of the year...
At best, Mehta is the Jets beat writer version of a shock jock. Can't hold a candle to Costello, much less Capellini. Sad that he's more successful (arguably) than those guys.
Love it, just on general principle, anytime anybody sees things as they are and sticks it to the Giants.
Just wanted to point out that Brick isn't making 14 Mil, that's just his cap figure. In cash he is making closer to 9, the rest is pro-rated bonuses. I think it's important that this is kept in mind as it reduces the leverage of the team when asking for a restructuring of the deal.
Some day it will get thru your thick head that the NYJs are viewed by the media as a bottom feeding team with a small fan base in comparison to the NYGs fan base
Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer The Jets have $719,647 in cap room, according to the NFLPA -- the smallest amount in the league.
It's a blip year I think. Cap is not crowded next year and we already know who the aging players likely to be off the cap in two years are. But yeah, the Jets are going to have to draft well at this point not to revert to a 4-12 in 2016 or 2017 given the talent on hand.
Just curious; are we in "cap hell" or is that just reserved for when Tanny has our heads bumping against the cap ceiling?
The difference is that Tanny couldn't get the Jets out of cap hell while keeping a competitive roster. Macc still may be able to.
