Looks like all the Team Barkley posters should quiet down That’s 4 RBs on the team. I doubt we draft a RB at all now unless they cut Powell maybe
Nah When you lose 3 picks it’s ok to sign bargain guys and see what sticks If we had this extra picks, I’d agree But in this case, use the cash and splash it around (gently) and see if you can make up for the lost picks.... not like the cap got busted by Rawls No issue here
We don’t have many picks Prefer to use minimal cash here and save picks when possible Great management IMO
I would have rather grabbed a RB in the draft as well, but evidently, that was never in Mac's plan. Maybe they plan to keep all 4 and run the legs off of them, running 9 plays out of 10. It makes no sense to get rid of Bilal or McGuire whatsoever unless something has happened behind the scenes that hasn't hit the news yet and we aren't aware of.
It doesn't look we're planning to draft a RB at all, and perhaps never were. Mac can't take too many offensive players after all. He has to keep Bowles happy. Bowles must have pictures of Mac with a goat or something.
It could, but I'd be surprised. Unless something has happened that we haven't heard about, getting rid of Powell makes no sense, especially for some kid whose production has dropped dramatically each of the last two seasons. The only that makes any sense to me is that they plan to take the air out of the ball and run the ball something like 9 out of every 10 offensive plays. Maybe they're switching to the single wing offense.
Right. Everyone knows that to Mac taking an OL in the 3rd round would be overdrafting. 5th round or bust, baby! Must be planning on taking another CB or maybe TE in the 3rd round. lol
I'm not sure he brings anything more to the team than what Langford and Judd already do and I would like to see what those guys can do as a possible replacement to Powell(last yr of contract) for the next 2-3 years.. none are a #1, nor is Rawls. What I would prefer to have done, was sign TE- clive walford. He was a former early rd. draft pick who did SOMETHING in the NFL.. and right now our entire TE staff has done NOTHING. Money is actually very thin now... very thin.. it's almost gone when you consider the rookie payments and practice squad and keep 2M in reserve.. I would have been nice to rollover 10M into 2019.. but there is no chance of that now. Perhaps Walford isn't even an option with the latest multiple signings?
I have no issue with the signing because it’s probably for little to no guaranteed money and it is a form of “competition” I guess. I just don’t think he’s all that good and is rarely healthy. Huh? We have about $25 mil left assuming Rawls and Hewitt signed for a mil guaranteed each. Not to mention we already are going to have over $100 mil in cap space going into next year unless there’s a trade or mid season extension. Money is literally last on the list of things to worry about.
can never have too many running backs.... good camp depth signing.... arrrhhh... must find a way to bitch.... he's never healthy! waste of $$$$. Mac's a moron!
They still have over $27M, not sure what Rawls and Hewitt get but would think not much more than league minimum, maybe $1M each. Brings the Jets down to $25,317,000. $10M covers draft picks and practice squad taking them to over $15M. How is that "very thin now, very thin"?
Crowell is going to be the #1 back with Powell/McGuire behind him Rawls or Langford will be depth . Walford was just released yesterday and could still be easily signed, Id be happy to see him picked up but Walford would be signed on potential, not accomplishment. He has done little due to injury. Hes not going to get aabig contract and should be easily affordable. That said TE position isn't a priority, Leggette will hopefully be healthy, Thomlinson is a great blocker and should be used more as aared zone target, Sterling showed recieving ability when given the opportunity last year and Enunwa was a match up nightmare when used as an H back. ASJ put up (Jace Amaro #s) last year. It won't be hard to replace his production. There's between $13-15 million left after the Rookie pool and FA signings made so far and some of the FAs won't make the roster increasing the amount of cap space available so it's very possible to see $8-10 million rolling over into next year's cap. Even with the FAs signed, we are projected to have $103.5 Million in cap space next off season which will allow us to exend our own, and with a young QB , hopefully we can attract some top tier FAs next off season.
OK Guys.. we don't have 25M in cap space. If you are going by OTC site, it's not updated and doesn't factor the rookie pool in it. Cap was 89.8 - 9.0 rookie pool = 80.8 balance - 41.2 new signings= 39.6 balance - 23.1 re-signs = 16.5 balance - 8.6 tenders = 7.9 balance. 7.9 is what we have and 3 players are not documented on their cap # ... Ijalana, Hewitt and Rawls. I'm GUESSING Ijalana will be about 1.0 and Hewitt the same. We overpaid for KPL but got Harrison cheap.. average that out and maybe we paid 1.0 for each, but that is speculation, as well as a guess on Rawls at 1.5. That leaves us at 4.4 ... and most teams hold back 2.0 for in-season transactions. Reduces us to 2.4 ... sign 2-3 more bottom feeders and we are emptied out. Or sign Walford and rollover the remainder?? Or we may have overpaid for the 3 guys above and we are already spent out.
I have no idea where you could possibly be looking because the literal site you referenced has us with $27 mil remaining in two separate places not including Hewitt and Rawls: https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-jets/ https://overthecap.com/calculator/new-york-jets/ Spotrac also has the same info but don’t have newer contracts in yet. If you combine their numbers with OTC’s contract info for the new guys you also get $27 mil: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/cap/
So our choice is multiple sites that keep track of these things for a living or trust Early 80's. a guy that set up his account on TGG a few weeks ago. At least put out a ledger sheet of the new signings, re-signs, tenders, etc., to give yourself half a chance of looking legit.
U need to take a math class. Money is not an issue this year or next. https://www.newsday.com/sports/foot...ositioned-for-the-next-two-seasons-1.17765446. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...y_cap_space_do.html#incart_river_mobile_index
Friday of last week... Daryl Slater of nj site had an article detailing everything. I also use OTC site.. perhaps the discrepancy is the STARTING number on the cap, as Slater had it at 89M and I seem to recall OTC had it mid 90's, going off of memory. As for the $ amounts on the signings etc... slater was more up to date than OTC
