nothing anyone says in public at this time of year is accidental - it is all done to encourage trade offers, hide interest in certain players - if someone is openly praising someone the chances of them drafting them are slim unless its an elaborate double bluff!
mostly true, except for the 1 pick. no reason to smokescreen it since nobody can do anything to stop it
but they can try to trade that #1 pick to the Giants or the Jets - if the Giants were madly in love with Chubb then why not give up a 4th or 5th round pick to swap spots with the Browns if you think there is a chance they take him
I don't see the giants wanting chubb to be honest. i just did a mock here http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/sgb-2018-1st-round-mock-draft.90287/
I agree it is unlikely - just making the point that there is almost always a point in lying right up until you put your card in
Nope. Best case scenario is: 1. Browns - Allen or Darnold 2. Giants - no trade down - Allen or Darnold 3. Jets - Rosen
Um ... the "best case scenario" is that the Jets get to select the highest rated QB on their draft board. That means non-QBs get drafted by Cleveland and the Giants at #1 and #2.
I just can’t fathom a team being this dumb. Dorsey is a smart guy. We just have to hope merely walking into the Cleveland facility lowers your IQ 25 points.
It is interesting the historical dynamics. Allegedly Cleveland is less likely to take Mayfield number one because of comparisons to Manziel while some say we are less likely to take Allen because of Hackenburg comparisons. So interesting this year with all 4 QBs having rather large red flags. Which is why I think many rate Darnold number one as he is simply the safest even if people do not always rate him as the most talented.
They have the bridge in Tyrod Taylor, they can have Josh Allen sit and develop. I think the first 1-2 years, they can afford to do so and take the QBs with the highest upsides.
I would be thrilled if the Browns took Allen #1. It would guarantee that Darnold/Rosen will be there at 3. As I have said before, I would be very concerned if the Jets ended up with Allen.
i'd probably say rosen is less talented then darnold and allen, however also much safer. rosen could start day 1. he has a very high football IQ, ran a pro offense well in college, and is very mature for his age. Allen has the best arm, but needs to work on a lot of things (mechanics, reading a defense, going through progressions) Darnold just needs to learn to make better decisions.
Cleveland is definitely deciding between Darnold and Darnold. I think they probably end up taking Darnold. Rosen is too good to pass up for Giants. Jets end up with either Allen or Mayfield.
