Perfect for an A1 sauce comercial.
New York Jets rookie Sauce Gardner will reportedly wear No. 1 for the Jets –– but the story behind it is complicated.

Gardner, who was initially given No. 20, wrote this tweet on Monday, before deleting it:

“Jets fans, do not order my jersey until it’s official. I wish I could tell y’all what number I’m wearing, but I really don’t know yet. Just be patient, you’ll know real soon!!”

Nice, but I've always thought it was the player that made the number, not the other way around. $250K is a lot of money but I guess he'll earn it nack in endorsements.

What $250K does he need to earn back?

I just hope he's able to back up all this swag he's bringing with him. If not, his stay here will be very very painful for him. I think the kid should just lay low, come in and let his play bring the swag. These ain't the Rex Ryan Jets anymore... I hope.

All true but for a team that needs some swagger spark, I don't mind Sauce's bravado at this point. He will pan out or won't pan out based on his talent. He might fail but I don't think he will fail due to his bravado.

But you are right boss. He is taking a risk. He will rub the star WR's and QB's wrong way and they will aim to bury him down. If he can back up his talk, he will be a legend though.

"It ain't braggin' if you can do it" - Muhammad Ali.

Some guys do better when they have the bullseye on them. We'll find out if Sauce is one of those guys. Joe Willie was another one. We can stand to use some brass balls on this team.

It was Twitter! Do you believe it? Or do you believe Gardner when he says it didn't happen? Gardner was actually reTweeting the bogus crap while he denied it.

Am I the only "old guy" who's thinking "who gives a shit??" Prediction: The NFL will soon pick up on this nonsense and make a show out of it. The "Rookie Uniform Number Reveal" It'll be just like this overhyped stupid schedule release nonsense set for tonight. We old guys really miss football. Not the over-selling of everything else associated with it. Who's with me? ;)

I don't think anyone cares, in general, about what number a guy gets. However, when a guy has had the nickname "A1 Sauce Sweet Feet Gardner" since his Pop Warner days, giving him #1 does have a unique and special meaning, and it's cool that he got it. And yes, if he is successful, it's hard not to imagine some extra endorsement bucks flowing his way as a result of having that number, which is awesome for the guy.

We desperately need people with swagger to go along with talent. Confidence is supreme and we require plenty of confidence to give the AFC hell, not to be intimidated by any of them, let them know that, and hit them right in the mouth. We have been laying low entirely too long. In fact, we have been laying embarrassingly gutter low since the last two years of Rex Ryan era if my memory serves me right.

Too funny but ur so right.

"NFL announces a 2-day pay-per-view reveal party! What number will your rookies be wearing? Pay up....tune in...be the first to find out!!!"

"$29.99 one day, $49.99 for both days!"

    "Details at: NFL.com"

(NFL reveal party not available in areas prohibited by law)

Seems very fitting. Hope he's able to capitalize off the nick name and dominate on the field as well.
