It would most have likely cost them their third fourth fifth and sixth round picks AND next year's first or second. For Tyler Warren. Sound football move.
Do you think a divisional rival would have traded that pick to us to start with? Obviously, Lou is exaggerating a little but no way on earth they would have traded it for what you said, "Pennies on the Dollar"
https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp It's not a perfect science, but I can't ever think of ac team moving up that far.
Significantly less than the cost of moving up to 7, where Warren was projected to be drafted by the Jets by many pre-draft estimates.
When you compare the price of moving up to 7, where Warren was projected to be drafted versus moving to 14 where he actually WAS drafted? I stand by that statement.
Ok but what do you think we would’ve had to give up? And what’s your source for him being projected as 7th?
Stand by it all you want, it is wrong and I notice you still haven't been big enough to tell us what you actually think it would be possible to move up from 42 to 13 or even 12 because there is no way the Dolphins are taking that trade at 13 with a divisional rival, something else you have not acknowleged.
So you actually think the Colts, who drafted Warren, are going to make a trade so they don't get Warren? Are you really that thick? No need to answer that, it has been made abundantly clear already.
This right here. Great example of the Jets being an "instigative" body for a change. Instead of some other team starting a "run" and the rest of the league scrambling to grab the left overs. Kind of nice for a change. I'm also in agreement with the way things shook out. One other component to Bowers being so "epic" in year one had to do with the fact that the Raiders had next to NOTHING else. No real running game and a bunch of tier 2 & 3 receivers. Of COURSE Bowers was going to get fed the ball. Definitely not a something I would expect to be repeated with any sense of success.
Yep and he wasn't even the top TE drafted. Nobody saw that coming, but apparently teams didn't value Warren like they did with Brock Bowers. Debatable though, as Bowers was drafted #13 but was first TE off the board.
idk about all that. From year to year the talent is different so it's hard to decipher what it means when people are drafted and where. Also Bowers falling to 13 was a mistake on the part of the NFL GMs. If there was a re-draft he would be top 10 or probably even top 5. I do think this year's draft (2025) was a weak one in general and for most positions but TE and RB were strong with a lot of depth so some teams may have waited to pick up a solid player later knowing they could if they wanted those positions. -- All this is to say: Warren may have gone top 10 most years. But when you pick 7 for example and there's only 1 real decent offensive tackle on the board and a solid batch of round 2/3 TEs you take the tackle just from a risk management standpoint
