Yeah, honestly that was the only real option…just very hard to imagine a guy like AR playing for a rookie HC…new system install and credibility are just absolutely unaligned with an aging QB who wants everything his way…players, coaches, schemes, etc. There was no way on earth that marriage would work. This was the best option honestly for both parties. I can see AR working better with an established successful coach like Tomlin and a strong locker room and team like the Steelers…that makes a lot more sense. But a rookie HC? No way that would have worked out well
Agree completely. Not only we had a new regime, but it was an ideal time to build for the future starting now, from the ground up. We needed youth, discipline and flexibility to make everyone better. AR was definitely not the answer, not now, not two years ago probably. As for the Steelers. I don’t quite see it as a good marriage for a man that is quite inflexible and a team that is quite set on his ways with years of success.
