Season over! After going basically 3 months of sucking all they had to do was win a series against the Marlins and they couldn’t do it. Stearns should be fired, but he won;t be. This is the worst job by the front office that I can remember.

They didn't deserve to be in the playoffs. They get shut out with the season on the line.

I haven't seen anything out of Mendoza that gets him a pass on this collapse. I've seen very little management out of him. No leadership visible to the untrained eye. The team for the most part looked like they were on autopilot since the all star break. He'll be back next year? The Mets are gonna run it back with this same crew minus Alonzo? Same result in store.

He's done far more for the Mets than Soto, but he's not getting $750M so I don't blame him for getting outta here and making his cash while his value is at its peak.

Yes, that's why I was pissed they didnt extend him sooner.... "but the analytics..."

They will probably let ANOTHER homegrown talent leave to win elsewhere...

I know they said Mendoza was safe but the way he managed a MUST WIN game was awful. Can't do shit about the offense laying an egg, but that was a head scratcher. The 2025 NY Mets, a day late and a dollar short and it's going to be like this for a LOOOOONG time thanks to the already enormous payroll.

They need to completely blow up the pitching. Cut and trade them all. Keep the young guys. Start fresh. Fire every single pitching coach and athletic trainer. There is no excuse for this.

This makes no sense. An actual positive of last season was the base running. I mean Soto had a career high in stolen bases, and I think the team as a whole were in the top 5. Why change something that’s worked?

Yep, that seems like a very stupid decision.

Seriously. If they are replacing coaches, it should be the athletic trainers and pitching staff.

Oh well - Dodgers win the WS in extra innings, coming back from being down two runs in the 8th inning. Boo.

Brandon Nimmo is being traded to Texas for second baseman Marcus Semien. Nimmo waived his no-trade clause to let the deal go through, so I guess hometown sentiment didn't matter much on either side. The total amount of money owed to Nimmo is about $29 million more than that owed to Semien, over two extra years (five versus three). I suppose McNeil will be out the door soon, and it will be interesting to see who they get to play left field (it will presumably be an above-average fielder).
